General Description
The Director of Middle School Ministries leads and sustains a biblically grounded, Christ-centered ministry that reaches 5th-8th grade students in our community. This role invites students to discover their belonging, embrace the gospel, and live out their
faith in meaningful ways.
This role specifically manages the following positions:
- Middle School Coordinator
- Middle School interns (if applicable)
Specific Responsibilities
- Create and Nurture Community: Develop and implement engaging weekly programs that foster a sense of belonging and nurture spiritual growth among our students.
- Empower Volunteers: Recruit, train, motivate and build up a dedicated team of volunteers, particularly small group leaders, fostering a supportive and collaborative environment.
- Support Other Leaders: Provide guidance and encouragement to all those serving in this ministry area, including a program coordinator or interns, if applicable.
- Engage Families: Cultivate strong relationships with parents and families through open communication and support, helping them to feel connected and involved.
- Foster Intergenerational Connections: Encourage students to participate in the broader life of the church, promoting meaningful relationships across generations.
- Relational Ministry: Build authentic connections with students and families, offering spiritual encouragement and support as they navigate their faith journeys.
- Communicate Effectively: Maintain effective communication with students, leaders, and parents, enhancing the visibility and impact of the ministry within the congregation.
- Teach with Relevance: Plan and present engaging, age-appropriate biblical messages that resonate with students’ lives and encourage deeper understanding of the gospel.
- Collaborate with Staff: Meet with other staff and leaders for ongoing encouragement and guidance.
- Participate in Church Life: Attend and support departmental meetings, training events, and church staff gatherings.
- Manage Resources Wisely: Oversee ministry resources, including scheduling, budgeting, facilities, personnel, and communications, with stewardship and care.
- Adhere to Policies: Follow guidance in the EPC Book of Order, the CPC Leadership Handbook, and CPC Human Resources Policies and Procedures Handbook.
- Pursue Spiritual Growth: Commit to personal and professional growth, nurturing your spiritual life as you lead others.
Qualifications
- Visible love for Christ and heart for students, exemplifying active discipleship in daily life.
- Two to five years of ministry leadership experience
- Well-developed theology consistent with that of CPC
- Effective communication and teaching skills
- A strong inclination toward collaboration and teamwork
- Creativity and problem-solving skills, approaching challenges with grace and innovation.
- An optimistic spirit, a sense of humor, and a humble confidence that inspires others.
- A bachelor’s degree is preferred, supporting your ministry knowledge and skills.
Terms of Employment
- 40 hours/week-Exempt
- Salary range $68,650-$87,000
