About the Minister to Students: The Minister to Students at First Melissa Church will be responsible for the oversight and development of ministry for both High School and Middle School students, working closely with the church's leadership team to provide spiritual direction, discipleship, and community building for students and their families. This role is key to the health and growth of our Student Ministry, ensuring that students are engaged in their faith and connected to the broader church body.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Student Ministry Leadership:
  • Build, lead, and organize a vibrant student ministry in alignment with the mission and values of First Melissa Church.
  • Recruit, develop, and mentor a team of student ministry volunteers.
  • Plan and lead activities, events, and gatherings that promote spiritual growth, fellowship, and outreach for students.
  • Create engaging worship, teaching, and discipleship experiences that help students grow in their relationship with Christ and learn to live out their faith.
  • Design outreach initiatives that encourage students to share the Gospel and invite unchurched friends.
  1. Discipleship and Student Engagement:
  • Develop small group opportunities for students, fostering relationships and spiritual growth.
  • Teach and disciple students in Biblical truths, Theology, and Apologetics, encouraging them to apply these lessons in their daily lives.
  • Meet regularly with students for mentorship, discipleship, and building strong relationships.
  • Participate in the local community by attending student events (sports, school activities, etc.) and being present on school campuses.
  • Lead students to actively share their faith and live out the Gospel in their daily interactions.
  1. Volunteer Leadership and Development:
  • Recruit, train, and empower adult volunteers to serve in student ministry.
  • Ensure each student is known and cared for by an adult leader who is committed to praying for, supporting, and investing in them.
  • Provide regular training, support, and encouragement to the volunteer team to equip them for effective ministry.
  • Meet regularly with volunteers for planning, fellowship, and feedback.
  1. Parent Engagement and Communication:
  • Communicate regularly with parents, keeping them informed about upcoming events, ministry goals, and student discipleship strategies.
  • Develop partnerships with parents, encouraging their involvement and input in student ministry.
  • Create avenues for ongoing communication through newsletters, parent meetings, and consistent contact.
  • Be aware of the needs and concerns of parents and offer support as needed.
  1. Ministry Coordination and Administration:
  • Set and manage a student ministry budget that aligns with ministry priorities.
  • Ensure that student ministry is fully integrated into the overall mission of the church, encouraging student participation in worship services and church activities.
  • Work collaboratively with the church staff and leadership to ensure cohesive ministry efforts across all areas.

Qualifications:

  • 3-7 years of experience in church or ministry leadership, particularly within student ministry.
  • Bachelor’s degree (preferred but not required).
  • Demonstrated experience in recruiting and developing ministry leaders and volunteers.
  • Passion for seeing students grow in their faith, share the Gospel, and lead others to Christ.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills, with a collaborative mindset to work effectively with the church staff and congregation.
  • A heart for networking and building relationships within the local community, particularly with other youth ministers and leaders.
