Shepherd’s Gate is a unique, vibrant church in the fast-growing suburbs north of Detroit. As we approach our 45th birthday, we see God working through our community in many amazing ways. We are experiencing 25% in-person worship growth year over year. We are in the middle of our Faith Forward campaign to build a brand new worship center and gathering space. We’ve been blessed to experience over 50 baptisms in 2024! And we are well known in our community for outreach, what we like to call Step Out and Serve.
In the last few years, we have seen God bring many more young families to Shepherd’s Gate. As we continue to develop our programming, it’s clearly time to add a leader of leaders to our Next Gen Department, a Family Director that can provide not just leadership, but mentoring, inspiration, organization and energy to our programming and staff as we seek to serve the families God continues to bring through our doors week to week.
We are seeking a qualified individual who will have a special focus on families, programming in the birth through 6th grade range, and leadership of our Next Gen staff as a whole. This position is full time, and has a complete benefits package including health, dental, retirement and more.
Are you the right fit for this role? If you prayerfully believe you might be, stalk us online and get a sense of who we are. If you are ready to move forward, let's talk! Send a resume to Jim Jensen at jj@sgatechurch.org.

When you walk through our doors, you are home. Our place is somewhere you can connect with friends who become like family. A place to get to know Jesus, the one who has changed our lives so much, we know He can change yours too. If you are looking for a place to build your faith, to find your purpose and your people, look no further.
Our Shepherd’s Gate family was formed 40 years ago with seven families, meeting in one another’s homes and celebrating life together. Four decades later, we continue to meet at our place in Shelby Township, MI, where we learn about Jesus and walk alongside each other during all seasons of life. Our community of 1000+ worships in person and online, using relevant methods to communicate timeless truths.
Our mission is simple. We carry this out every day by doing what Jesus calls us to do—to love one another, go and make disciples, and be His people on the earth.
We value YOU. Yes you. And every[one] around you. Our goal is to make sure that every[one] who walks through our doors feels welcomed, valued, and loved–always. Our place is your place. It’s a place for you, your family, for every[one] to belong.
Every[one] has influence. You, me, your neighbor, your bestie, even that guy you chatted with at the grocery store. Our influence comes from God who calls us to share the love of Jesus with our world. Let’s get out there and live out our influence face-to-face and connect with others in our homes, at coffee shops, restaurants, work, the sports field, and in our backyards and communities.
To live generously means taking every[thing] we have, giving back to our communities, and using these resources to spread the love of Jesus to our world. We will use our God-given gifts & abilities to serve others and fulfill our purpose here on this little planet we call Earth. Through sacrificial giving, we will gladly share our physical and financial resources with every[one].
