CHILDREN’S MINISTRY DIRECTOR/PASTOR
We are thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team as the Children's Ministry Director. This pivotal role is designed for someone who has a heart for nurturing the spiritual growth of young minds and a vision for leading a dynamic children's ministry program. Position Overview
- Develop a clearly defined vision, strategy, and direction for discipleship within Children’s Ministry
- Provide oversight, planning, guidance, and execution of all aspects of Children’s Ministry programming, including:
- Sunday morning Kid’s Church
- Wednesday night programming
- Specialized child-based programming
- Outreach events for kids and families
- Family events/programming
- Summer programming and Camp coordination
- Curriculum selection, development, and teaching implementation for all children’s programming
- Develop and implement age-appropriate environments for children, taking time to care for all ages from birth through 5th grade.
- Provide overall administration, communication, development, and procedure enforcement specific to the ministry.
Position Responsibilities
- Build up, support, and encourage a student leadership team.
- Provide direction for Children’s Ministry staff, leaders and volunteers.
- Lead, recruit, develop, train, direct, and provide recognition for all Children’s Ministry staff, leaders and volunteers.
- Develop and implement strategy for whole-family discipleship; working directly with families and other ministries to equip and empower parents to come alongside their children’s faith journey within a supportive church community.
- Oversee distribution of 3rd-grade Bibles and first communion.
- Attend school and community events as a supportive, loving, fun, and consistent leader.
Additional:
- Articulate, champion, and share the importance of Zion’s mission and vision amongst the staff and church body.
- Work scheduled hours, communicate with the Executive Director and Executive Pastor when you can’t be to work/meetings on time, appointments, vacation, and sick days.
- Check/Respond to emails/texts/phone calls daily (working hours).
- Attend scheduled meetings, department meetings, and staff meetings and exemplify staff core values.
- Create and maintain a budget. Order supplies as needed and turn in receipts.
- Communicate when you need help or training.
- Provide spiritual leadership for your team.
- Directing/leading your volunteers.
- Do something to appreciate your volunteers – Celebrate what God is doing.
- Vision Casting, planning, and prayer over the ministry.
- Worship, read books, podcasts, etc., to grow as a leader.
- Attend sermon read-throughs when available.
- Attend at least one corporate worship service a week.
- Attend all church functions, worship services, and meetings as requested by the Executive Team.

Education & Experience
- Experience in ministry is a plus.
- Children’s ministry degree or similar is a plus.
