ASSOCIATE PASTOR – Contemporary Worship Lead Pastor

Kingwood Methodist Church is a congregation of over 4,000 members located in Kingwood, Texas.  We average 800 people on campus each Sunday in worship and over 400 through our online worship and podcast presence.

The Associate Pastor is intended to be the lead pastor to The Vine - the contemporary worship community at Kingwood Methodist Church [KMC}.  The Vine community is a growing segment of the church family with many of our young families, singles and older couples that have grown up in the contemporary setting.  This position at KMC is anticipated to promote development as a pastor and biblical teacher while providing opportunities to work and lead in a variety of church ministries.  The Associate Pastor will be expected to take an active role in, and ownership of an additional focus in the ministry life of KMC in the areas of Missions, Discipleship or Connections ministries.

Requirements:

  • Committed to the Global Methodist Church through being
    • An ordained minister of the GMC or
    • Pursuing ordination in the GMC.
  • Exhibit strong biblical understanding
  • Affirm and maintain covenants of Wesleyan tradition
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills

Duties:

  • Support the Senior Pastor and community of Kingwood Methodist Church by:
    • Preaching the sermon for 2 services per week, predominantly in The Vine
    • At least once per quarter, will deliver sermon for traditional services
  • Maintain the community of KMC by:
    • Welcoming visitors and encouraging ongoing relationships with KMC members
    • Visiting those who are sick or homebound
    • Officiating additional services (weddings, funerals, etc)
  • Collaborate with church staff and lay leadership to:
    • Develop and/or support church programs for teaching/education
    • Support and encourage ministry efforts (such as missions, youth and family events, and church hosted groups)
