Associate Pastor

Onward Church (www.onwardchurch.org), based in Fishers, Indiana, is searching for a dynamic Associate Pastor who will join us in our mission to correctly teach the Word of God, equip our people to make disciples who make disciples, and participate in modeling and leading our “One New Man” congregation made up of Jewish and Gentile followers of Jesus the Messiah.  It is expected that the community of Fishers, Indiana will be a focal point of this position’s ministry. Specific responsibilities will include preaching as assigned, overseeing the Family, Youth and Children’s Programming, and making preparation to lead the congregation upon the retirement of the Senior Pastor.

Job Description:

The Associate Pastor reports directly to the Senior Pastor and Elder Board and shall be responsible for all areas of ministry related to families, infants, children, and youth ages junior and senior high.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Preach on Sunday mornings as scheduled by the Senior Pastor;
• Learn and understand the spiritual needs of our church and community and address those needs in a manner consistent with the vision and mission of Onward Church;
• Learn and understand the spiritual needs of children and youth in our church and community and address those needs in a manner consistent with the vision and mission of Onward Church;
• Recruit, train, support, inspire and supervise volunteer staff serving in the infants, children’s and youth ministries;
• Oversee the development and maintenance of adults small group Bible fellowships for adults;
• Oversee the Sunday evening junior and senior high youth group and develop student leaders and recruit and support volunteer workers;
• Plan and oversee family related activities (i.e. Family Camp);
• Attend Sunday morning worship service and participate as requested;
• Present monthly ministry update and reports to Elder Board.
