Job Description:

This position is to disciple students to know, grow and go in Christ. The primary purpose of the Student Pastor is to develop and implement a student in the ministry for 6-12 grades that introduces students to Christ, disciples them in spiritual growth, and trains them to serve Christ with their life. Of equal importance is to assist and empower parents/guardians in raising their teenagers to a spiritual awareness and maturity.

The person must represent not only Donelson First but Jesus Christ Himself and demonstrate a real love and concern for all people. This person must be an active member of Donelson First. This person will work together with all other staff and leadership and will fully support all the ministries of Donelson First. This person must have a servant’s heart, be positive and maintain open and frequent communication with the ministry team, support staff, volunteers and members. This person shall adhere to the church culture and operate under the supervision of and report to the Senior Pastor and serve in cooperation with the staff.

All ministry team members shall lead the church to accomplish the purpose of the church through worship, evangelism, discipleship, ministry and fellowship; proclaim the gospel to believers and unbelievers; care for the church’s members and other persons in the community; work under the direction of the Senior Pastor; be of high character, above reproach in their family and community; teach and lead in their areas of responsibility; and agree to teach and minister in accordance with and without reservation, the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.

This person will, based on the direction of the Senior Pastor:

  • Oversee and lead a comprehensive student ministry (6th – 12th grades) designed to reach unbelieving students and disciple believing students
  • Organize and lead an ongoing Wednesday night ministry for students
  • Organize and lead Sunday morning on-campus volunteer outreach and/or Life Groups for students
  •  Build relationships with and engage in supporting local schools and community activities for students
  • Recruit and train a team of volunteers to help lead Student Ministry and pour into the lives of students
  • Build healthy relationships with parents and families of students
  • Support the overall ministries of Donelson First. Be a team player
  • Oversee and manage the Student Ministry budget
  • Organize and lead at least 3-4 major events for students each year such as youth camp, Senior trip, Winter Camp, etc. (as applicable)
  • Oversee youth intern(s)
  • Report to and work under the Senior Pastor
  • Maintain a character that represents Christ, edifies the church, and embodies the leadership qualifications outlined 1 Timothy 3:1-7

  • Ability to be adaptable in stressful situations and a quick learner
  • Troubleshoot/problem-solve
  • Teachable spirit and collaborate well with team
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Shows initiative, perseverance, and possess a “whatever it takes” attitude
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Knowledge of Planning Center, Mac, and Microsoft Office
  • Strong social media skills

Ideally:

  • Knowledge of video and tech
  • Knowledge of ProPresenter and Adobe Suite
  • Experience leading worship

Qualifications:

  • Education: College degree or higher
  • Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of experience leading in a church or business (expected)
  • Enneagram: Enneagram number MUST be included in resume and/or cover letter
