The Bridge Church, located in Venice, Florida, has a mission to help people find and follow Jesus Christ, both here and around the world. Position Summary:
At our new campus, The Bridge Church will offer full children’s environments for three services on Sunday mornings, currently averaging more than 150+ children, as well as a new Wednesday night ministry. The Children’s Director provides direction and oversight for the entire children’s ministry at The Bridge Church, ages birth through fifth grade. This includes providing leadership, development, and direction for the Children’s Ministry staff and volunteer teams as it pertains to the vision, mission and strategy to The Bridge Church Family Ministries. This position is pivotal in partnering with families and shaping the spiritual and personal growth of children through engaging, structured, and dynamic programming. The Children’s Ministry Director also provides direct oversight to our Preschool Director, and preschool ministry (birth through Pre-K).
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the implementation and development of programming for the spiritual formation of children and equipping parents to fulfill their calling as the primary spiritual leaders of their children
- Oversee all programming and ministry for children ages birth – fifth grade, including Sunday mornings, Wednesday nights, summer programming, special events, etc.
- Ensure that all children’s educational ministries are giving biblical instruction in agreement with the mission and philosophy of The Bridge Church by choosing and preparing curriculum
- Create environments, activities and programming for each age group that will facilitate learning and encourage spiritual growth
- Recruit, train, schedule and lead teams of volunteers in alignment with The Bridge Church’s Leadership Pathway
- Train a care team, and provide oversight, to care for children and families within the church, including hospital visits and follow-ups
- Maintain a strategy for reaching and assimilating new children and families
- Plan and oversee special events, such as camps and other children’s ministry related events
- Develop environments that are welcoming and accessible to children with a variety of special needs, ensuring they can participate and grow
Essential Functions:
- Review, purchase and oversee the implementation of all curriculums for the Large Group/Small Group teaching environments (Birth – 5th grade)
- Develop and maintain safe, clean, aesthetic children’s ministry learning environments
- Make timely requests for purchases of required supplies and equipment needed
- Oversee childcare for Family Ministries and all-church events as needed
- Responsible for check-in procedures and tracking weekly attendance
- Meets regularly with your direct report to discuss ministry strategy and effectiveness
- Attend all weekly staff meetings
- Perform other duties as assigned
Skill Set:
- Exhibits strong decision making, project management, and leadership capabilities
- Brings a solid understanding of the psychological, social, and spiritual stages of child development
- Effective communication skills (written, verbal and interpersonal)
- Competency with basic computer software, including Planning Center Online, Microsoft Suite, and the capacity to learn new software
- Certified in CPR and understanding of security protocol

Job Qualifications:
- Must have previous experience directing a growing children’s ministry
- BA or BS degree is not required, but preferred
- Knowledge and experience in multi-site campuses is a plus
