About Double Oak: Double Oak Community Church is a growing, community-based church in the Baptist tradition. Position Overview: The High School Pastor will provide leadership and oversight for all aspects of the ministry for 9th-12th grades while working in concurrence with the overall vision, mission, and values of Double Oak Community Church. 

High School Student Minister Essential Responsibilities

Teaching and Leading

?      Be the primary leader of all things High School Ministry, acting as the first point of contact for students, parents, volunteers, and families within your span of care. 

?      Lead as the primary teaching pastor for the High School Ministry. 

?      Create and execute effective ministry plans for events, experiences, and environments that engage/retain high school students while creating opportunities for them to live out Double Oak’s vision, mission, and values.

?      Work closely with the Middle School Student Minister and others to create safe and effective events, experiences, and environments that encourage students to take a next step in their faith.

?      Recruit and develop volunteer teams by casting a compelling vision, mentoring, equipping, and creating a healthy volunteer culture. 

?      Cast a compelling why, how, and what to High School Ministry volunteer leaders that engage them in pursuing and achieving ministry goals.

?      Be a proactive and continual learner in your area of expertise.

?      Continual growth in your knowledge of adolescent development, specifically the discipleship needs, spiritual development, cognitive capabilities, and faith stages of 9th-12th graders. Train volunteers and parents to better understand the same.

?      Intentionally invest in relationship building with high school students, coaches, and small group leaders through contact work. Train and equip your volunteer leaders to do the same. 

?      Be knowledgeable of Double Oak’s policies/procedures regarding the safety of minors, including ratios, and ensure they are strictly enforced. Train volunteer teams to do the same. 

?      Work with all other ministries who use your spaces to provide/maintain a safe, age-appropriate, fun, prepared, clean, orderly, and inviting atmosphere. 

?      Keep accurate student and volunteer lists in appropriate databases, tracking serving roles, participation, and means of communication.

?      Keep accurate attendance at all times. This includes understanding the check-in system and how to manage rosters.

Discipleship

?      Seek and continue to grow in your own faith walk. Participate within the Body of Christ and develop your own personal disciplines or practices to foster your own spiritual growth.

?      Model and practice spiritual growth, practices, and disciplines with purposeful intention to give away the same to the students and volunteers you lead.

?      Provide direct oversight of the scope and sequence of all High School Ministry curriculum and discipleship materials. This is to include all production, worship, and tech pieces needed to support and enhance the curriculum and discipleship materials.

?      Facilitate the ongoing training of small group leaders on the use of curriculum and leadership skills.

?      Inform and direct to intentional activities that foster adolescent pathways to spiritual growth: serving, baptism classes, small groups, next-step classes, classes for their parents, etc.

?      Encourage and equip high school students to develop a growing relationship with Jesus and find places to live that out through serving. Train your volunteer team to do the same. 

Communication

?      Effectively communicate the shared vision of Double Oak Community Church with students, parents, and volunteers.

?      Build systems and processes to establish consistent and effective communication with students, parents, volunteers, and Double Oak staff.

?      Develop communication channels with parents and volunteers to gain feedback.

?      Create and manage all High School Ministry content posted on social media.

Partnering With Parents

?      Work closely with the Middle School Student Minister to better partner with parents, cultivating a positive image and creating events, experiences, and environments that parents will support without reservation. 

?      Shape a High School Ministry culture that provides parents with the right information at the right time, reinforces the family, honors the parent, and provides opportunities for parents to lead spiritually.

?      Address parental questions or concerns in a timely, professional manner.

?      Partner with the Middle School Student Minister to help incoming 9th-grade students and their families successfully transition into the High School Ministry.

General Staff Responsibilities

?      Serve Double Oak with integrity and character as a contributor to the growth and health of the ministry of the church. 

?      Strive for unity by embracing the vision of Double Oak and pursuing harmony within the leadership of the church.

?      Support the ministry and vision of Double Oak through the stewardship of time, words, attitudes, and resources.

?      Effectively lead the High School Ministry within the boundaries of the approved budget.

?      Serve in humility and cooperation as part of the pastoral team.

?      Willingly take on additional responsibilities and roles needed to carry out the ministry of Double Oak.

?      Exhibit a genuine attitude reflective of a follower of Christ.

?      Each of these requirements should be maintained in personal relationships, professional leadership, and social media activity. The High School Student Minister must always be mindful that his or her personal integrity impacts the reputation of our Lord and Double Oak Community Church significantly.

?      Double Oak’s expectations of staff are that we model healthy discipleship by being active participants within the life of the church. This is demonstrated primarily by a commitment to being a member. This includes basic behaviors like attending worship services, exercising personal spiritual disciplines, biblical conflict resolution, and tithing.

Required Qualifications

EDUCATION:  Master of Divinity is preferred. Bachelor’s Degree in Youth Ministry or related will be considered.

EXPERIENCE:  Minimum four years of previous experience leading in student ministry
