As a member of the Chapel's staff Leadership Team, the Associate Pastor of Adult Ministry is responsible for the effective management and oversight of the Chapel’s outreach, groups, and pastoral care and connection ministries. The pastor also directs an additional ministry based on their gifts, skills, and calling, such as college ministry, member engagement, deacon oversight and development, online discipleship and engagement, etc.

The qualified candidate will profess and live a life that reflects a personal faith in Jesus Christ. The person will demonstrate a commitment to Jesus' mission along with an enthusiasm for engaging in that mission in the context of Williamsburg Community Chapel, while graciously upholding the Chapel's Staff Covenant.
To be considered for the role, the candidate must have formal theological training. They must be ordained (or able to be ordained) in a manner consistent with the Chapel's Guidelines for Pastoral Ordination. A Master of Divinity degree (or higher) from an ATS accredited institution is preferred. The successful candidate will have at least five years of experience in church ministry, preferably in a high-level associate pastor role at a larger church or a senior pastor role at a smaller church. Experience in large church settings is desirable. The candidate must be able and excited to serve in a large church context. Specifically, in addition to the traditional pastoral skills of preaching, teaching, discipleship, evangelism, and care, the candidate should possess a keen understanding of organizational behavior. They must have the ability to develop teams, lead leaders, and solve problems by building and using systems. Candidates must be capable of both strategic thinking and tactical planning. They will excel in organizational leadership and supervisory skills.

This position operates in a professional office environment as well as an event environment, which may include classrooms and large event spaces. The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal to moderate. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. This position travels occasionally for retreats and conferences.
