Statement of Purpose: The Pastor/Director of Kidz Ministry is responsible for leading and managing all programs and activities related to the spiritual growth, education, and care of children (Baby-5th Grade) within the church community. This role involves planning, organizing, and implementing various events, classes, and initiatives to nurture children's faith development and foster a sense of belonging within the church family.
Major Duties & Responsibilities: The following statements reflect the general duties and responsibilities of this position considered necessary to the performance of its overall role and shall not be considered as a detailed description of all requirements inherent in the position:
- Leadership and Vision:
- Provide direction and oversight for the kidz ministry in alignment with the overall mission and values of the church.
- Develop and communicate a clear vision and strategy for the kidz ministry that promotes spiritual growth, discipleship, and community engagement.
- Program Development and Implementation:
- Design and implement age-appropriate curriculum, activities, and events for kidz classes, midweek programs, and special events making kidz ministry the most exciting place for children.
- Coordinate and oversee volunteers to ensure effective delivery of programs and maintain a safe and nurturing environment for children.
- Direct and oversee the planning and execution of seasonal events, such as kidzcamp, holiday experiences, and family-oriented activities.
- Volunteer Recruitment and Training:
- Recruit, train, and equip volunteers to serve in various capacities within the kidz ministry, including teachers, helpers, and event coordinators.
- Provide regular support, encouragement, and training opportunities for volunteers to enhance their effectiveness and commitment to the ministry.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with other church ministries, staff members, and leadership teams to integrate kidz ministry initiatives with broader church programs and activities.
- Communicate regularly with parents, guardians, and church members to provide updates, share resources, and solicit feedback on the kidz ministry.
- Partner with the Teen Ministry Leaders (6th-12th Grade) to ensure a smooth transition for promoting children from 5th grade into the teen ministry.
- Remain engaged in other church activities while simultaneously being involved in kidz ministry activities.
- Administrative Duties:
- Manage the kidz ministry budget, resources, and administrative tasks in accordance with church policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, volunteer schedules, and program evaluations to assess the effectiveness and impact of ministry activities.
- Safety and Security:
- Implement and execute safety protocols to ensure the well-being of participants during all ministry activities.
- Collaborate with church leadership to uphold and strengthen compliance with child protection policies and procedures.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Theology, Christian education, or a related field (preferred).
- Prior leadership experience in children’s ministry, either vocational or as a volunteer.
- Proficient organization, written, and verbal communication skills.
- A heart for serving and ministering to children and families.
- Confidential, helpful, cheerful, diplomatic, caring, and positive attitude to all.
- Commitment to the Statement of Faith and Core Values of ODBC.
- Routinely attend adult worship services and participate as an active member of ODBC.
