Position Description
Title: Children’s Minister
Reporting Structure: Lead Pastor
Status: Exempt Salaried
Position Purpose: Provide Christ-centered, enthusiastic leadership to foster a growing Children’s Ministry. Leading young children to introduce them to Christianity, encourage parents in nurturing their children in Christian values and a personal relationship with Jesus.
Principle Accountabilities
- Select and oversee presentation of CAS aligned teaching materials and curriculum.
- Recruit and train adults to support the ministry in teaching, encouraging and hospitality.
- Develop and disseminate material for parents to help them reinforce the teaching curriculum at home.
- Conduct fun and engaging activities to encourage young children to delight in a Christ centered environment.
- Model a growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ and demonstrate application of CAS goals and mission to parents and their children.
Primary Responsibilities & Performance Metrics
- Oversee programs for nursery (birth - 30 months), preschool (2-4 year olds), children (5k-5th grade).
- Aquire and adapt curriculum materials for all kid’s programs.
- Assure all required supplies and materials are available at all times for children’s ministry activities.
- Oversee the recruitment, screening, training, scheduling, and communication with volunteers who serve in the various children’s ministries.
- Staff adult support to ensure at least: Infants 1:2; Toddler 1:4; Pre K-K 1:5; K-5th grade 1:8.
- Oversee Wednesday program to ensure adequate staffing, materials, and goals of activity are accomplished each week.
- Oversee the set-up of the physical environment, ensuring that rooms are safe, friendly and age appropriate.
- Supervise, train, and develop ministry assistants/interns to serve in CAS children’s ministries.
- Annually recommend and manage children’s ministry budget.
- Provide or refer family related counseling as needed.
- Attendance at weekly staff meetings at least 85% of time.
- Other duties as requested by Lead Pastor.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Associate or Undergraduate degree preferred
- 2+ years in demonstrated success in working with families and children
- Basic knowledge using social media platforms
- Proven organizational giftedness
- Able to teach at children’s level of understanding
- Self starter and team player
- Enthusiastic and relationship personality
- Agreement with CAS “Statement of Faith”
