Job Description:

JOB DESCRIPTION:      VCC Kids Ministry Coordinator

Reports To:                VCC Kids Director

Classification:              Non-Exempt, Full Time  (30 hours per week)           

PRIMARY PURPOSE:    

The VCC Kids Ministry Coordinator is responsible for leading the ‘birth through kindergarten age’ Kids ministry on Sundays and throughout the week. This includes providing oversight of the care, teaching and safety of the children and to ensure volunteers are sufficiently trained. This role requires the VCC Kids Ministry Coordinator to see their ministry work as “making, maturing, and mobilizing apprentices of Jesus.”

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop positive relationships with volunteers and parents; welcome feedback and equip them to be partners in ministry.
  • Attend Sunday mornings to teach or train, welcome families, and participate in worship.
  • Help coordinate ministry activities during Kids ComGroup nights and at all Kids Ministry events throughout the week and year.
  • Ultilize LEADR platform to create and track annual Ministry Action Plans and performance reviews.
  • Customize Kids ministry curriculum and weekly lesson to ensure ministry fit and age appropriateness.
  • Equip Kids team and volunteers with training and lesson plans for approved ‘childcare-provided’ events (e.g., Women’s Bible Study, Membership Class).
  • Ensure that all program activities meet VCC Kids ministry standards.
  • Recruit, train and retain a volunteer team. Ensure all have met their compliance requirements.
  • Manage parent notification protocol (incident, injury, illness).
  • Arrange activities and set up classrooms for Sundays ahead of time.
  • Maintain cleanliness and toys in all classrooms.
  • Participate in weekly all-staff and Kids Team meetings, while upholding Team Values.
  • Visitor contact management from the initial greeting to follow-up
  • Utilize effective communication strategies to engage with supervisor, staff, volunteers, and families promptly and appropriately through in-person meetings, text, email, or TEAMS.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the VCC Kids Director.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Ability to manage date and become proficient in the Church Database system (Planning Center, Leadr, etc.)
  • Humble, teachable, enthusiastic. Loves Jesus, kids, and parents.
  • Able to lead and inspire volunteers. Able to receive criticism and feedback. Strong communicator, highly organized, dependable, excels in teamwork, ideator.
  • Experience with children’s ministry is preferred but not required.
