Associate Pastor (Discipleship Pastor)  

A part-time position
Cheney Community Church

 

Position Description: 

The Discipleship Pastor has a passion to see God’s people reach full maturity in Christ (Colossians 1:28). He is responsible for equipping God’s people to do His work, that they may fully glorify God in their families, church, and community—in that order. This position is responsible for coordinating the discipleship efforts of the church, helping the different ministries of the church to work together for the goal of individuals being all that they are meant to be in Christ. 

Position Responsibilities and Expectations: 

  • Come alongside members of the body to help them: 1. Discern their God-given gifts. 2. Put them into practice. (Romans 12:2-8) 
  • Continually identify, train and empower leaders so that they are personally growing and reproducing themselves in future leaders (2 Timothy 2:2). 
  • Develop a clear and effective strategy to help attendees easily and efficiently take the next step in their relationship with God and assimilate into our church community of fellowship and service. 
  • Help develop and give oversight to small groups and ministry teams as a means of discipleship. 
  • Meet regularly with small group leaders/ ministry leaders to offer pastoral support and counsel. 
  • Assist the senior pastor by providing leadership and guidance to fellowship and outreach
    opportunities as requested. 
  • Have a one-on-one discipleship relationship with at least one person in the church. 
  • Provide primary pulpit relief. 
  • Provide timely follow-up to new attenders. 
  • Conduct house/hospital visits in connection with the others elders of the church.
  • Able to provide basic biblical counseling to those in need. 
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with the leadership within the church to include the Senior Pastor, Elder and Church Boards, Ministry Leaders by attending meetings as needed and collaborating with them on church strategy and ministry needs and plans.

 

Personal Qualifications:

  • A man who loves the triune God and from that love, loves all God’s image bearers and desires to see them restored into the image of the one who created them through the Gospel of Jesus Christ. (2 Cor 3:18) 
  • Biblically qualifies as an elder (1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9) 
  • Is or becomes a member of Cheney Community Church.
    Organizational and administrative abilities to effectively lead multiple areas of ministry and coordinate volunteers, helping each part to work properly (Ephesians 4:16)
  • Gifted and experienced in teaching and effective communication.
    Proven leadership skills with effective ‘body building’ (Eph 4:12-13) experience built on clear ministry plans motivated by love for God and His people.
  • Supports the statement of faith and policies of Cheney Community Church.

Cheney Community Church (CCC) is a growing multigenerational Christian congregation in Cheney, Washington. CCC is an independent, non-denominational, protestant church. It is congregationaly governed, elder and church board lead. We are a bible-based church.

Our weekly Sunday service is attended by 100-115 people, with other regular meetings for AWANA, Youth Group, Men’s and Women’s Ministry, and small groups. One of CCC’s strengths is loving connection within the body of Christ. We also emphasize global missions and support many different missionaries.
