Position Title:    Executive Director of Operations

Reports to:         Senior Pastor

FLSA Status:       Exempt Full-time

Responsibility:

The Executive Director of Operations is responsible for overseeing the operations of the church.  This includes leadership and management for the facility, food service, communications, technology, and other general operations in support of the ministry and mission of Weddington Methodist Church.

Relationships

  1. The Executive Director of Operations shall be accountable to the Senior Pastor for direction and daily job performance.
  2. The Staff-Parish Relations Committee will set employment policies and procedures and act on employment issues.
  3. The Executive Director of Operations position is an at-will full time exempt position.
  4. The Executive Director of Operations is the direct supervisor for the personnel in the areas of facility, food services, communication, technology, security, and contract services.

Qualifications

  1. Degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or related field/work experience preferred.
  2. Experience in supervising staff
  3. Experience in a church setting is preferred.
  4. Computer Skills and experience with financial and database programs (ex: ACS or Automated Church Systems, Microsoft Office, etc.).
  5. Acceptable Criminal Background Check and Credit Check.

Responsibilities

  1. General Responsibilities

a.  Provide leadership and oversight for all areas of church operations.

b.  Assist in the development of policies and procedures.

c.  Exercise extreme confidentiality in all circumstances.

d.  Attend Church Council meetings.

e.  Attend other teams or committees as requested by the Senior Pastor.

f.   Attend staff meetings for program, worship planning, and leadership staff.

g.  Be available to assist the Senior Pastor, Program Staff, and committee members.

  1. General Operations

a. Supervise facilities maintenance and facilities personnel.

b. Assist with the development of facilities policies and adherence.

c. Review, oversee, and negotiate contracts with vendors and services such as phone services, information technology, janitorial services, and others, as needed.

d.  Accountable for establishing and maintaining contract standards. Maintain processes and controls that ensure contract standards are followed throughout the organization 

e.  Liaison to the Board of Trustees.

f.  Supervise communications, technology, and food service staff.

g.  Supervise the office staff in consultation with the related ministry leaders.

h.  Member of Weddington Christian Schools Boards.

  1. Personnel and Other Administrative Responsibilities

a.  Assist Human Resources in the areas of developing job descriptions, recruiting, hiring, and training employees.

b.  Provide evaluations and compensation recommendations to the Senior Pastor and the Staff-Parish Relations Committee on supervised employees

Professional and Administrative Issues

  1. The Executive Director of Operations is expected to comply with the employee guidance and accepted practices of Weddington Methodist Church.
  2. With consideration for professional flexibility due to meeting and other schedules, the Executive Director of Operations will negotiate expected office hours with the Senior Pastor.
  3. Absences and vacations will be coordinated with the Senior Pastor.
  4. Due to the fiscal responsibilities and access of this position, a personal credit report may be requested annually by the Staff-Parish Relations Committee.
  5. Any grievances should be discussed confidentially with the Senior Pastor. If an acceptable solution cannot be reached, the grievance may be referred to the Staff-Parish Relations Committee.
  6. As a member of the staff of Weddington Methodist Church, it is expected that your faith and practice will be compatible with the Christian faith and the social principles of the Global Methodist Church.
  7. Maintain a vital and growing personal walk with the Lord through Bible study, prayer, and worship.
  8. Be actively engaged in various continuing education opportunities germane to the responsibilities of this position.
  9. Perform your duties and responsibilities in a manner to glorify Christ and further the mission of Weddington Methodist Church.
  10. Consult with the Senior Pastor on any personal issues you may have that may impact your ministry in this role.
