JOB TITLE: Associate Pastor of Journey Groups and Discipleship

MANAGER/SUPERVISOR: Executive Pastor of Ministries
SUMMARY: The Associate Pastor of Journey Groups and Discipleship will provide development, shepherding, and oversight of all Journey Groups, ROOTED and Freedom Groups and their respective leaders. This Pastor will also work directly with the Lead Pastor to implement the vision for discipleship pathways. In addition, this Pastor will be on the Pastoral Team, assisting in providing overall pastoral leadership, including but not limited to: General day-to-day shepherding and responsibilities, memorial services and weddings as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work directly with the Lead Pastor to implement the vision for a clear discipleship pathway.
- Help in the day-to-day overall pastoral shepherding of the church.
- Provide vision, direction, development, management, tracking and oversight of all small groups and discipleship groups at Journey Church, including but not limited to:
- ROOTED
- Freedom Groups
- Community/Free Market Groups
- Men’s/Women’s Groups
- Young Adult Groups
- Create, build and develop supporting teams and systems with Coordinators, Team Leads and Superheroes.
- Recruit and train small group leaders with the ESPN Vision (Encouragement, Scripture, Prayer, and Next Steps).
- Increase small group numbers by regularly onboarding new leaders and community/free market groups.
- Build up, train, equip and empower existing and new leaders to lead Journey Groups and disciple people effectively.
- Create structures and systems that develop Coordinators, Team Leads and Superheroes to lead well.
- Celebrate and honor all Superheros and Team Leaders regularly.
- Monitor attendance and manage outcomes for all groups ministries.
- Ensure all groups are fully aligned with Journey’s mission, vision and values.
- Provide weekly sermon series notes for small group leaders.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Care for, equip, and empower Coordinators, Team Leads and Superheroes under your supervision.
- Develop leaders who develop leaders.
- NOTE: This ministry role description is not intended to be all-inclusive. Staff members may perform other related duties requested by the Lead Pastor or Executive Leadership Team to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Ministry, Business, or a related field.
- Two or more years of leadership experience within a Church or similar environment.
- Proven experience in team building, leadership development, creative thinking, systems management, and problem solving.
- Work history at a church of 1000+.
- Able to use technology: Planning Center, Monday.com, Google Suite
- Agrees and aligns with the vision, values, and doctrinal statement of beliefs of Journey Church
COMPETENCIES: In order to perform the job successfully, one should demonstrate the following:

WORK SCHEDULE / OFFICE HOURS: 40+ hours/week
- Mondays-Wednesday: 9am-4:30pm, Thursdays through Pursuit Night
- Sundays: 7am-1pm
- 1-2 nights per week, depending on the season/schedule
- Weekly or Bi-Weekly 1:1 Meetings with Direct Report
- Attend/Lead various meetings that involve Journey Groups
