SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The primary role of this Director of Communications is to oversee the communication strategy for a church to promote its mission, vision, and events.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop a multi-channel communications strategy driven by the church’s mission/vision/values
  • Unify and align everyday messaging with the church’s voice, goals and priorities.
  • Partner with church and ministry leaders to define, develop, and effectively communicate messages to church-wide, and specific audiences.
  • Guide a team of staff/volunteers to implement effective communications strategies
  • Ensure high-quality and high-impact communications reach both internal and external audiences
  • Cultivate, lead, and manage the Communications Team Staff to ensure all projects are done in a timely manner
  • Keep social media/website engaging and aligned with the digital ministry plan.
  • Own and manage the church’s brand/identity.
  • Participate in the creation of digital and print content
  • Capture and share stories of life change and impact [stewardship videos]
  • Working with media outlets and community organizations to promote church events and activities

POSITION REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Have a strong understanding of communications strategy, writing/editing, graphic design and social media, with a high value on audience engagement.
  • Strong background in photography preferred.
  • Familiar with or can quickly learn and direct basic design principles utilizing software such as Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, and Illustrator
  • Able to recruit and train volunteer workers.
  • Must be extremely comfortable working with computers and learning new software/ technology as needed
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Organized, creative thinker and highly productive, working in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to manage multiple projects
