Scope of Worship Director
The Worship Director position at Westwood Church is a full-time position best suited foran individual who has several years of experience leading worship and technical teams in a local church setting. This person will be primarily responsible for co-leading Westwood’s worship ministry with the Senior Pastor, and for building, equipping, and empowering worship and technical teams to facilitate rich and engaging worship services.

Principal Responsibilities

Lead the music ministry and co-lead with the Senior Pastor the overall worship ministry of Westwood Church by:

1. Directly leading our congregation in musical worship on Sunday mornings, or empowering others to do so in your place on occasion
2. Planning (along with the Middle School and High School Youth Directors) and leading worship music with and for middle school and high school students during Wednesday Night Live
3. Recruiting, leading, and equipping music teams for all of Westwood’s worship services
4. Directing our various worship technical teams including sound, video, lights, graphics and visuals, and livestream teams
5. Providing musical and technical support for special worship services such as weddings and funerals as needed and able
6. Leading a choir music ministry on a seasonal basis, or recruiting and empowering others to do so

Experience and Skills Expectation
We expect that our Worship Director will have formal music or music ministry training and several years of real-life experience leading worship ministry in a local church-setting. He or she should be passionate about worship ministry in the local church, committed to pursuing excellence as an act of love and worship, have the personal and professional skills to lead and innovate in various areas of worship ministry, be able to adapt and adjust as needed, be able to function cooperatively and collaboratively as part of an overall staff team, be comfortable within the theological stream of the Reformed Christian faith, and be able to articulate and show evidence of an authentic and ongoing relationship with Jesus Christ – full of its ups and downs, successes and failures.

Care & Accountability
The Worship Director will be directly under the care and accountability of the Senior Pastor, and also under the ultimate care and accountability of the Executive Committee of Westwood Church as needed.
