Position Overview:

The Children’s Minister at Faith Community Church is responsible for planning, coordinating, implementing, and overseeing the safety, care, and discipleship programs of the children from 3 months old to 5th grade while building relationships and maintaining communication with volunteers, children, and their families.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Sunday Morning and Wednesday Evening Programs:
  • Schedule volunteers for each classroom and role, including Nursery, Toddlers, Preschool, K-1st, 2nd-3rd, 4th-5th, Sensory, and Check-in. Coordinate subs for those that cannot serve on their week.
  • Plan lessons, games, and crafts for Toddlers, Preschoolers, K-1st, 2nd-3rd, and 4th-5th graders.
  • Email lesson plan to volunteers each week.
  • Gather, prepare, print, and set up all lesson supplies in each classroom.
  • Set up all technology including check-in tablets and printers, preschool laptop and tv, elementary computer and projector, and classroom tablets.
  • Verify that all volunteers arrive the day of. Find last minute subs as needed. Fill in and teach in any areas needed.
  • Greet families as they arrive. Monitor safe numbers in classrooms, assist any children having a difficult time, support leaders, and solve technology issues that arise.
  • Consider behavior, sensory, and learning challenges that individual children might have and implement a plan to provide a safe, effective discipleship environment for them.
  • Oversee safe pick up of all children. Clean up and put away all supplies. Talk with parents if their child had any major behavior, health, or safety issues. Mandatory reporter to police/CPS for suspected abuse.
  • Send monthly emails to all parents and volunteers informing them of any upcoming events and an overview of that month’s curriculum.
  1. Camp, Vacation Bible School, Other Events
  • Attend planning meetings with those at Faith and from other local churches
  • Create an event page on the church website and an event registration page.
  • Advertise by creating and distributing flyers & sending emails through all avenues and platforms available.
  • Recruit volunteers. Verify background checks.
  • Update all health and registration forms; print them and also attach online.
  • Collect and document all forms and payments needed. Email parents.
  1. Volunteer Oversight:
  • Recruit, interview, verify background checks, and train volunteers through individual meetings and group meetings.
  • Continue monitoring each volunteers’ successes and struggles in their roles, and provide support and adjustments as needed.
  • Meet with volunteers to vision cast any changes in the program. Listen to, discuss, and consider their input and ideas. Ultimately, lead with

confidence in the plan God is guiding you to, despite objections because many people find change uncomfortable.

  1. Maintain classroom furniture, toys, technology, supplies, snacks, diapers, ect. Request and order supplies as needed. Diligently work within the budget.
  2. Work with and maintain oversight of the Special Needs Director and the Children’s Worship Leader.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree in Christian Leadership, Theology, Ministry, or a related field
  • A gift and passion for administrative tasks
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong technology skills
  • Strong leadership skills
  • 5 years of experience working with children, volunteers, and families in a ministry setting

  • A committed follower of Jesus, with evidence of His work in your life including regularly attending church, personal bible reading, good moral character, patience, humility, and grace.
