About Calvary Children's Home

Calvary Children’s Home, located in Powder Springs, GA, provides long-term residential care to children in need of a safe, stable, and loving Christian home. We have been in operation for 58 years and have served over 400 children since our founding in 1966.

Calvary is currently seeking a Program/Finance assistant with knowledge of the Microsoft 365 suite, basic non-profit policies, and experience in supporting office operations. Basic non-profit accounting, finance, and bookkeeping experience is preferred. Type:              Part-Time

Location:        In-office, Powder Springs, GA

Pay structure: Hourly

Hours:            M-F from 9:00 AM – 4:30 PM

 

Experience:

  • Preferred: minimum of two years of bookkeeping experience with a working knowledge of non-profit and fund accounting principles, basic finance, and auditing principles and practices. Knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping principles, practices and applications, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Required: essential office operations experience, knowledge of Microsoft 360 suite of products (primarily Word and Excel), and basic understanding of financial principles. The ideal candidate will be willing to take on varying responsibilities and tasks, possess a teachable spirit, and have a heart to support Calvary’s operations as we provide for the children in our care.

 

Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively; excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; proficiency in Microsoft Office; strong Excel skills are a plus.
  • Reporting to the Director of Finance, you will perform a range of general clerical, accounting, and bookkeeping support functions, including but not limited to (on-the-job training will be provided):
  • Assist with front office duties to include but not limited to:
    • Serve as a greeter for our friends and visitors, answer phone calls, and help with unloading general item donations.
    • Assists with receipting and letter generation.
  • Assist and serve on the annual audit. 
  • Assist the Finance Director with special projects.
  • Perform filing and general administrative tasks.
  • Support Income Development activities.
    • Social Media
    • Email campaigns
    • Letter campaigns
    • Event support
    • Campus visitor support
    • Other
  • Collect, confirm, and process employee time sheets and maintain records of all employees’ sick, personal, and vacation days. Serves as liaison to the business manager on basic human resource needs.
  • Assist with employee expense reports.
  • This is a part-time position of 30-35 hours of work each week with the ability to work more hours during peak seasonal needs (November- January).
