In many ways, this is a leader-of-leaders role; however, it should be stated that whoever is in this role should be passionate about teens! This new leader will oversee a team (currently five direct reports) and help reshape the future of the Youth Ministry at FPC. Currently, the program has Sunday morning gatherings for both Middle School and High School. Sunday evening youth group for MS and Wednesday night small group ministry of HS. The church also has a long history of great retreats, camps, and missions for students as well.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee, empower, and support the Youth staff. Lead, train, develop, encourage and empower existing staff for ministry to all youth involved at FPC.
  • Recruit and train youth volunteers for Sunday mornings, small groups, confirmation, and seasonal trips.
  • Cultivate parental involvement and collaboration, ensuring that Youth Ministry communication with parents is routine, clear, and reliable.
  • Be a bridge between the youth ministry and the broader church. Demonstrate consistent engagement in the life of the church staff and the broader church community.
  • Create ways youth can be active in the congregation and vice versa.
  • Develop the overall budget alongside the pastor of congregational life and will provide oversight of the budget.
  • Design and manage the annual trip calendar.

What a Strong Candidate Would Look Like:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
  • Adherence to and alignment with ECO’s essential tenets
  • Knowledge of the Bible and Reformed Theology
  • Experience in evangelism
  • Creativity and an entrepreneurial interest in developing new ways to reach out to middle and high schoolers
  • Good administrative skills, including the ability to plan, develop, and carry out programs.
  • A strong interest in discipleship and teaching scripture
