Associate Pastor

Director of Student Ministries

Vertical Church is seeking an Associate Pastor who will passionately serve to fulfill the church's mission of “Making More and Better Disciples of Jesus Christ” through a gospel centered ministry.

Overview

All staff is expected to display a Christ-like character when interacting with each other, church attendees, and guests as well as understand and fully support Vertical Church’s mission and vision. It is expected that this position will require this individual to:

  • Provide for his own spiritual health through daily devotions, prayer and Scripture reading.
  • Model a Christ-like character both inside and outside the church family and campus.
  • Lead his team(s) with respect and humility while requiring excellence.

Major Responsibilities

  • To oversee and lead Vertical Student Ministry. *See attached Director of Student Ministry position description for more details.
  • As a part of the pastoral team provide shepherding and congregational care.
  • Be a part of Vertical’s teaching team preaching several times a year.
  • To share oversight of individual campus ministries (ie. Guest Services, Small Groups, Safety/Medical, Buildings & Grounds) coaching Ministry Champions.
  • Work alongside of other staff members and be a team player to further the vision of Vertical Church.
  • Help develop and implement ministry outreach strategies (social media, events, and community connection).
  • Meet Lead Pastor and staff weekly for the purposes of communication, development, and discipleship.
  • Maintain regular presence in the office during normal office hours (Mon – Thurs 8:00am-3:30pm).
  • Attend monthly elders meeting, as needed, to communicate ministry wins, goals and receive encouragement, prayer, and support.

Director of Student Ministries

The Director of Student Ministries is responsible for the overall leadership of the student ministry (both 6th – 12th grade students and adult volunteers) and leading all functional areas in the accomplishment of Vertical Church’s mission. This includes planning/overseeing events, volunteers, pastoral care, writing/preaching messages, small groups, creating a welcoming, accepting, and loving atmosphere, and making the Gospel of Jesus known to students.

Essential Job Functions

  • Lead a team of adult volunteers in the creation and operation of student ministry, including weekly services and routine special events.
  • Plan and execute biblically accurate, culturally relevant, and high energy services for students.
  • Create and manage a student ministry calendar that will drive all the activities and teaching of the ministry.
  • Direct the recruitment, training, and development of adult volunteers as needed to staff weekly programs and special events.
  • Implement student check-ins, program management, and security policies/practices in support of weekly services and special events.
  • Plan the annual summer trip and any other outings by advertising, announcing, and gathering information and costs.
  • Develop a communication strategy with parents in order to come alongside them to aid in their child’s spiritual growth.
  • Oversee the use and proactive upkeep of student ministry facilities, equipment, and grounds.
  • Assist in the development of and manage the annual budget for student ministry.
  • Work alongside of other staff members and be a team player to further the vision of Vertical Church.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor and Lead Pastor.
