Pastor of Worship and Creative Outreach

Overvied of the Job:  The Pastor of Worship and Creative Outreach is responsible for the oversight and direction of all music ministries of Maywood Evangelical Free Church and focuses on creative outreach for the church at large.

Education and Experience:  An earned bachelor's degree in the areas of Bible and Music and a minimum of five years expereince of worship / music ministry at a church of no less than 400 people is required.  He will provide accomplishments in music ministry and references that support productive and responsibile ministry.  Video links of leading worship music is required.

Role: The Pastor of Music and Creative Outreach at Maywood Evangelical Free Church shall function in the following manner under the leadership of the Holy Spirit.

2. A Shepherd, one who seeks to disciple those he leads in the Word of God.
3. A Student, one who has a teachable spirit and willing to take advice and humbly learn from others.
4. An Organizer, able to develop an efficient system of operation as it pertains to the job description and what is asked of him.
5. An Encourager, stimulating the Congretation to get involved musically during a corporate worship setting.
6. A Communicator, able to transfer the flow of information between volunteers and other music staff. Able to express himself clearly before people.
7. A Team Player, supporting and aligning the Music Ministries to the mission and vision of MEFC with others.
8. An Innovator, creatively looking for ways to enhance fine arts througout the Music Ministries of the church as well as Creative Outreach to the community.
9. A Researcher, keeping abreast of current trends and dynamics in music ministries, as well as making sure all music is doctrinally sound.
10. A Self-Starter, capable of initiating ministry and staying on task without constant supervision.  The job is full time and involves approximately 50 hours a week.
11. A Motivator, encouraging the music team and other volunteers to serve whole heartedly as unto the Lord.

Responsibilities:  The Pastor of Worship and Creative Outreach at Maywood Evangelical Free Church shall carry out the following tasks under the leadership of the Holy Spirit.

1. He plans, creates, and leads music during the Classic Service (choir, orchestra, band) and the Contemporary Service, coordinating the worship order and flow in cooperation with the Lead Pastor. He must be very familiar with Planning Center / Ableton / ProPresenter 7 / Audio & Visual Technology / and Planning Center.
2. He is responsible for the stage set-up and readiness for each service ensuring that all musicians (vocal and instrumentation) have all necessary equipment and music.
3. He selects, prepares, and leads weekly choir practice, praise team practice, music rehersals (having all music selections planned in advance in accordance to the preaching schedule).
4. He works to recruit and seek out volunteers for the music ministries of the church.
5. He works to incorporate various styles of music that are relevant, Biblical grounded, and worshipful.
6. He works to incorporate themed music that coordinates and complements the Lead Pastor's sermon schedule, holidays, and special events.
7. He is responsible for working with technical, sound, and video aspects of the weekly service in order to enhance the worship service.
8. He communicates well with all necessary volunteers and staff in order for each week to bring excellence to the Lord.
9. He meets weekly with the Lead Pastor to discuss the weekly worship, promotion of events, and outreach priorities in ministry.
10. He makes arrangements for additional music at congregational meetings and other special services (i.e. Baptisms, Communion Services).
11. He plans and oversees major music and worship events: Spring Concerts (end of the year), Good Friday Service, Easter Celebration, Thanksgiving Concert, Thanksgiving Eve Service, Adult Christmas Musical, Christmas Eve Services and Sunday Christmas Advent Services (and any other events at the Lead Pastor's request).
12. With the partnership of the Children's and Student's Pastors, he plans, organizes, and selects appropriate materials for youth ministry music programs such as Christmas, Children's Choir, Graduation Sunday, and any other events.
13. He works to develop and incorporate young talent into the music ministry of the church.
14. He sets up and responsibly manages the budget as it relates to the ministries that he oversees.
15. He works to develop and implement creative outreach opportunities for Maywood and the church families.

Relationships: The Pastor of Worship and Creative Outreach at Maywood Evangelical Free Church relates to the following individiuals and / or groups.

1. He is responsible, first of all, to the Head of the Church, the Lord Jesus Christ, to whom we must all give an account. (Rom. 14:12; Col. 1:18)
2. He works under the supervision of the Lead Pastor and is accountable to him in terms of function, responsibilities, and accomplishments.
3. He directs, oversees and coordinates ministry with the church pianist, musicians, choir, and technology director.
4. He meets weekly with the Lead Pastor to discuss the music ministry direction and does everything in his power to promote team spirit and alignment of ministry to the mission and vision of MEFC.
5. He partners with other volunteers and church staff for the purpose of ministry and works to advance church-wide cooperation of ministry in a spirit of unity.
