Purpose and Role: The EAC Pastor of Church Ministries position is an executive role at the church and part of the pastoral staff. This includes administrative, preaching, ministries oversight, and pastoral care for the church while acknowledging a high value for the “sodalic”, “scattered” part of EAC’s mission and vision. Some responsibilities may be shared with the EAC Executive Director and might be “phased in” as the current incumbent Executive Director transitions to another key role and relationship with the local community.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership, management, and oversight of the EAC staff team under the direction of the Senior Pastor. Operates as a “Chief of Staff” in this responsibility. This will be accomplished by providing strategic organizational and administrative leadership to department heads and the church at large, including the governance processes, budget and financial processes, human resource functions, and staff development functions (in conjunction with Executive Director when applicable).
- Be a core member of the preaching team in rotation with the Senior Pastor, the Family Pastor, and invited speakers, estimated to involve preaching approximately 17 times per year.
- Provide leadership to and support of existing EAC ministries including adult discipleship, missions, women’s and men’s ministries, senior adult ministries, and others (in conjunction with Executive Director when applicable).
- Provide leadership and volunteer coordination for pastoral care in the areas of weddings, funerals, baptisms, child dedications, and sick and infirmed visitation. This also includes the one-off “I want to meet with a pastor” requests. Note: this pastor is not expected to be a counselor or do large amounts of pastoral counseling.
- Additional responsibilities as assigned by the Senior Pastor.
- As time allows, be a member of the adult discipleship teaching team.
- Be an active member of the Elder Board, Governing Board, and an active participant in The Alliance Southeast District of the Christian and Missionary Alliance.
Qualifications:
- Is a maturing apprentice of Jesus.
- Has a fervent love of Jesus and others.
- Has experience in and the knowledge, skill, and ability to perform all primary responsibilities.
- Has substantial experience in both preaching, church administration, and pastoral care.
- Likes to be around people and has good leadership and relational skills.
- Is a demonstrated team player who will be a positive collaborator with the existing staff, the elders, and ministry volunteers.
