Title: Modern Worship Director
Reports to: Senior Pastor
Function: The praise team leader leads the musical portion of the
contemporary worship service. This includes leading the weekly
praise team rehearsal.
Qualifications:
- The Praise Team Leader has an understanding of and is comfortable with First Methodist Church BA theology.
- The Praise Team Leader will have appropriate musical skills and leadership ability and experience.
- Proficiency in using worship planning software, audio equipment, and sound engineering is a plus
Duties and Responsibilities:
- The praise team leader chooses the music for the worship service in consultation with the senior pastor. The music is chosen carefully with planning and thought given to musical styles, text, and coordination with worship themes. Thought and planning is also given to how often familiar songs are repeated, and how often new songs are introduced.
- The praise team leader is responsible for the spiritual well-being and nurturing of the praise team. The leader will set a spiritual tone and include prayer at each rehearsal.
- The praise team leader is responsible for the musical leadership of the praise team.
- The praise team leader will attend a continuing education event at least once a year.
- The praise team leader is responsible for recruiting new praise team members and A/V team members as needed. The praise team leader will also be responsible for evaluating potential praise team members as to their spiritual and musical appropriateness to be in worship leadership.
- The praise team leader is fulfilling God’s call to be a worship leader, facilitating and enhancing the worship experience of our congregation.
