First Baptist Church of Bryan (circa 1866) is one of the largest and fastest growing churches in Bryan/College Station, Texas with an active congregation of over 5,500 members and a weekly attendance of 2,500 to 3,000. The year-round population of Bryan-College Station is over 225,000, plus 90,000 college students at Texas A&M University and Blinn College, nestled between Houston, Austin and Waco. FBC Bryan staff is creative, innovative, collaborative and our goal is to Make Jesus Christ our All and Share Him with All. We are a friendly, happy staff who work well together. Being able to connect with each other, with our congregation and to those outside our congregation is the focus of every position.

  • Flexible weekday business hours (the church office is open Monday through Thursday 8AM to 5PM and Friday 8AM to 12 noon), Sunday morning and afternoon hours, and after 5PM weekday ministry events on Wednesday nights and special weekend event hours as scheduled. Annual ministry retreats, training sessions, camps, and mission trips are vital to the growth of each individual ministry.

Bryan-College Station (BCS) is a wonderful place to work and live. Many people who graduated from Texas A&M move back to work or retire as former students. BCS is ranked as one of the nation’s best places to raise a family due to its low crime rates, affordable housing versus other communities, and a top-ranked school system. BCS boasts the fifth lowest property tax rate in Texas in similar sized communities. Houston, Austin, and Waco are within an hour and a half to two-hour drive. Dallas-Fort Worth is located three hours from BCS.

There is much to do and experience in Bryan-College Station from historic Downtown Bryan to Texas A&M Football gameday (and Friday night yell practice with 40,000 other fans), visits to Aggieland Wild Animal Safari, or exploring food dives in Northgate, or making a Christmas Tradition at Santa’s Wonderland (the largest Christmas Attraction in Texas).  There is something for every season of the year and every stage of life. The Pastor of Families collaborates with appropriate committees, teams, and church leaders in setting goals, determining priorities, establishing programs and directs and supports the calendar of events for the Families ministry.

The Pastor of Families serves the congregation by developing, coordinating and administering all aspects of the Family Ministry focusing on adults with children between the ages of birth through high school at the church. The Pastor of Families provides leadership to all volunteers and lay leadership in this ministry. The successful candidate must have a heart and a vision for the Family ministry.

Qualifications:

Born again, baptized believer who loves the Lord.

Fulfill the scriptural qualifications of a leader found in the New Testament.

Understanding, support, and teaching of FBC Bryan’s Mission Statement to Make Jesus Christ our All and Share Him with All.

Possess a proficiency in Biblical theology and the ability to convey Biblical truth.

The Pastor of Families should have a Bachelor of Arts or Sciences from an accredited College or University. A focus on accreditation in ministry is beneficial, or a Master of Divinity from an accredited theological school or seminary or theological school is preferred, but not a requirement.

The Pastor of Families must have a minimum ten years of full-time pastoral experience. Experience in family ministry is preferred.

The Pastor of Families must have proven record of good moral conduct and show proficiency with the basics of social work in collaborating with congregation members who are in crisis or need counseling.

Experience serving in a similar sized church (1000-3000+ weekly attendance) is required.

Ability to lead other full-time Pastors/Directors.

Willingness to engage the local community and support of FBC Bryan’s ministries.

Excellent people skills with an ability to reflectively listen.

Possess the ability to disciple, teach, coach, and shepherd ministry associates and members of the congregation.

Maintain a healthy balance of personal growth in the Lord, family life and ministry life.

Ability to lead and mobilize FBC Bryan Families of all ages to reach the lost in the Bryan-College Station community.

Volunteers in the Families Department (GroupLife directors, teachers, and all other volunteers and lay leadership)

Salary & Benefits:

The Pastor of Families is a full-time salaried, year-round position with competitive compensation and excellent benefits including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance. The position includes generous vacation, sick and holiday days off, plus an annual annuity benefit.

About First Baptist Church of Bryan, Texas

First Baptist Church Bryan is located in the heart of Bryan-College Station between Houston & Austin, Texas.  FBC Bryan was establiushed November 21, 1866.  The new campus opened in 2006 and the new 38,000 square foot College Life Space and Childrens addition was completed in November 2023.  The Worship Center Renovation was completed early August 2024.  With an average attendance over 2,000, FBC Bryan is one of the largest and fastest growing churches in Bryan-College Station, often referred to as Aggieland.  The total permanent population in the area is about 225,000, plus about 90,000 students at Texas A&M University and Blinn Junior College.  Jim Heiligman is the Senior Pastor who just celebrated his 10th anniversary at FBC Bryan.  The two Worship Pastors are Matt Marsh (Traditional Service) and Jason Dunton (Contemporary Service).  As of late August 2024, there are five services on Sundays:  8:40AM (Traditional), 10:10AM (Contemporary), 11:30AM (Contemporary), 11;30AM (Spanish) and 7:00PM (College Worship "One27 at Night", which ministers to 500+ College students), and two GroupLife Hours 10:10AM and 11:30AM.  FBC Bryan hosts Mothers Day Out on Tuesdays and Thursdays and provides Childcare for all Sunday services and weekday church-wide activities.
