SUMMARY

The Connections Coordinator’s primary responsibility is to oversee all things related to the formal connection pathway of Pennington Park Church. This includes owning and executing the process that moves individuals from a first-time visitor all the way to a committed member living out the church’s core values. Specifically, the Connections Coordinator will direct key experiences such as Discover and Belong, oversee specific Sunday morning serving teams, manage the church’s database, and coordinate with various ministries and staff members to ensure Pennington Park is a welcoming environment where people belong, grow, and multiply.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

  • Experience in organizing teams and developing volunteers

  • Experience in administration, organization, and/or processes

NECESSARY SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Confident public speaker and clear written communicator

  • Strong technological proficiency and ability to use church management software

  • Able to create and manage efficient systems and processes

  • High interpersonal skills and gifts of hospitality

  • Discernment, able to maintain a certain level of confidentiality and discretion

  • Detail-oriented and able to predict problems while offering solutions

  • Creative in developing spaces of connection and community

  • Able to manage volunteers and rally teams around a clear vision

  • Flexible and willing to adapt to the challenges and needs of a growing church

  • Able to plan and execute events from early inception to completion

  • Quick learner, hard worker, and teachable spirit

SPECIFIC JOB FUNCTIONS & DUTIES

  • Manage and continue to develop PPC’s connection pathway
    • Mainta in the Next Steps tables by keeping supplies, giftbags, and communication materials well-stocked and organized
    • Follow up with first-time attenders to communicate next step
    • Schedule and coordinate Discover, an event for new attenders
    • Serve as a liaison, connecting new attenders to life and opportunities at PPC
    • Partner with ministry leaders and staff to ensure third spaces are a place of connection and fellowship for newer attenders
  • Act as the point person of PPC’s membership process
    • Schedule and coordinate Belong, PPC’s membership class
    • Oversee database work flows related to incoming and exiting members
    • Ensure all necessary forms, registrations, and documents are collected throughout the membership process
    • Facilitate member candidates having questions answered throughout the membership process
    • Work alongside the Pastor of Discipleship to connect member candidates to Elders for membership interviews
  • Oversee PPC’s church management software, Planning Center People
    • Ensure all individual and household profiles are up to date and accurate
    • Manage all workflows, lists, and forms related to the connection pathway
    • Create and update profiles for new attenders when necessary
    • Assist training staff and elders in using PC People as needed
  • Manage key serving teams involved in the Sunday morning experience
    • Provide vision for the usher, greeter, cafe´, and Next Steps teams
    • Assist in recruiting, training, and developing volunteers and lay leaders
    • Ensure teams are resourced well and scheduled weekly for each service
    • Define and communicate each team’s role in connecting people to PPC
  • Fulfill additional responsibilities related to connections and church staff as needed
    • Manage all relevant ministry budgets pertaining to connections
    • Work alongside relevant staff and teams to execute special services throughout the year such as Christmas Eve, Good Friday, and Easter Sunday
    • Attend and participate in relevant staff meetings, events, and special projects

ANTICIPATED TIME COMMITMENT & COMPENSATION

  • Commitment of 40 hours per week

  • Ability to work Sunday mornings, some Saturdays, and church holidays

  • Opportunity for flexible hours

  • Full-time, salaried position with benefits

  • Position reports directly to the Pastor of Discipleship
