Job Description
Northside Baptist Church is seeking a full-time Senior Pastor, preferably with prior pastoral experience of preaching/teaching, who holds to the 2000 Baptist Faith and Message. His primary responsibility is believing, preaching and teaching the Word of God. Must demonstrate strong leadership with the ability to lead the congregation with humility, integrity and a servant’s heart. He must also have a heart for the lost and a desire to share the Gospel and to engage with non-believers.
Qualifications
Biblical Standards:
- Seeking a candidate who embodies the biblical qualifications as written in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9
Experience:
- Ordained Minister (or open to ordination), preferably with experience in leading, preaching, and administrative duties
- Exceptionally personable and relational that models evangelism as a lifestyle
- Demonstrates strong interpersonal communication skills and has a Shepard’s spirit
Education:
- A strong theological education from an accredited institution is preferred, however, all levels of education and experience will be considered
- Demonstrates a deep understanding of Scripture and Christian theology
Leadership:
- A preacher and teacher of God’s Word
- Demonstrates strong leadership qualities, including casting visions for church growth, missions, youth programs, setting goals, and the ability to inspire and empower others
- Foster a culture of teamwork, and collaboration within the church
Responsibilities
Preaching/Teaching:
- An effective and dynamic communicator, able to analyze scripture in an engaging style that provides a clear understanding of God’s Word
- Has the faith and urgency to see the unsaved come to a saving relationship with Jesus
- Work with the worship leader in planning and leading corporate worship services
- Administer the Ordinances of the Church
- One who loves the Lord, exhibits personable Godly attributes, is committed to prayer and understands worship
- Believes that worship is an integral part of preparation for God’s Word
Discipleship:
- Committed to fostering believers’ growth in the faith and helping the believers become mature disciples of Christ
- Exhibits a past discipleship ministry, including discipleship training education, small groups, mentoring relationships, and other discipleship opportunities
Pastoral Care:
- Be devoted to regular prayer for the congregation and salvation of lost souls
- Compassionately minister to the needs of the entire congregation and to encourage them through sound biblical counsel and pastoral care
- Appropriately and expediently respond to crisis situations which arise in the congregation and make appropriate referrals when necessary
- Participate in the broader community life surrounding the church, celebrating community events and preserving a good reputation with those outside the church
- Promote the purposes and ministries of the church, training and encouraging spiritual maturity, discipleship of new members and church membership
Administration:
- Possess strong church administrative skills, including experience to manage church staff, ministries and church resources
- Work with Deacons and Church Council to guide and fulfil the vision of the church
- Prepare reports and moderate all Church business meeting
Compensation:
- Salary compensation will be a livable wage for our area. The salary package will be fair and competitive and will be comparable to teachers’ salary in our area. It will also reflect the candidates’ qualifications and experience
About Northside Baptist Church (NBC)
Northside Baptist Church is a congregationally governed, traditional Southern Baptist Church. The church is in Highlands, Texas, 35 minutes east of Houston. Our membership draws from Highlands, Crosby and North Baytown. The church holds to the 2000 Baptist Faith and Message. Northside is a financially secure, normative size church. The people are loving, caring, friendly and have a culture of respect and love for their pastor and family. Over the last several years, our church has experienced revival and revitalization. We are excited to see what God has in store for our church and our new pastor.
