Welcome to Vidalia Cornerstone Church! We are seeking a passionate and visionary senior pastor to lead our congregation in Vidalia, Georgia. Vidalia Cornerstone Church (VCC) has been preaching the gospel and ministering to our community continually since 1881. Throughout its history, VCC has been a Methodist Church. However, in August 2022, VCC disaffiliated from the United Methodist Church and now, as an independent, spirit-filled church, continues as a gospel-preaching, faith-filled, praying, discipleship-making, community-loving congregation. VCC offers two Sunday morning services, and our total average Sunday morning attendance is approximately 350. VCC already has in place a well-defined, efficient administrative and ministerial structure. You will find a supportive pastoral staff, experienced administrative council, conservative finance committee, and motivated evangelism and mission teams. Our congregation is ready to apply their skills, talents, and God-given abilities to further the Kingdom of God.

Qualifications

Summary of the minimum qualifications we are seeking for our new pastor:

• A degree in Theology, Biblical Studies, or a related field from an accredited institution.
• Ordination or licensing as a pastor.
• Minimum of 5-10 years experience in a traditional Wesleyan congregation, with experience in pastoral ministry, spiritual leadership, and community engagement.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient in organizational and administrative tasks.

Responsibilities

Summary of the responsibilities and duties of the pastor of Vidalia Cornerstone Church include, but are not limited to:

• The Senior Pastor shall attend and participate in meetings of the Church’s governance committees except when the Senior Pastor’s employment is discussed.
• The Senior Pastor shall implement the Church’s administrative practices and policies as directed by the Administrative Council and work with the Finance Committee related to budgetary matters and stewardship of the Church’s financial resources.
• The Senior Pastor shall act as the daily supervisor and leader of pastoral and lay staff and shall work with and report to the Staff Parish Relations Committee related to personnel matters.
• The Senior Pastor shall also be observant of the condition of the Church’s facilities and other resources and notify the Trustees of priority repairs or improvements in relation to the Church’s mission.
• The Senior Pastor’s leadership, conduct, teaching, and preaching shall be in conformity with the Doctrinal Standards as set out in Vidalia Cornerstone Church’s Statement of Faith and Practice.
• By accepting the Senior Pastor position, the Senior Pastor affirms his or her commitment to and agreement with the Nicene Creed, The Apostle’s Creed, the Confession of Faith, Moral Principles, and Theological Task and Guidelines, each as more fully set forth in the Church’s Statement of Faith and Practice. The Senior Pastor further must recognize and respect the Church’s “Wesleyan Roots” as summarized in the Statement of Faith.
• The Senior Pastor shall represent the Church in the local community and shall endeavor to act in a manner worthy of the Gospel of Christ and which is aimed at building the Kingdom of God through the Church.

• Further individual responsibilities and tasks associated with the role of Senior Pastor shall be specified in a job description established by the Staff Parish Relations Committee and in the employment contract prepared by the Staff Parish Relations Committee.
• Deliver engaging, biblical, spirit-filled sermons that align with our doctrinal beliefs found on our website (link to Statement of Faith and Practice here).
• Provide pastoral care, (including home, hospital and nursing home visits), and counseling to congregation members.
• Lead and coordinate worship services, working closely with the worship team.
• Collaborate with staff and volunteers to ensure the smooth operation of church ministries.
