Ministry Area Purpose:

The Next Generation Ministry exists to partner with parents to help children and students (birth through college) become followers of Jesus and know they are loved by God, empowered by His Spirit, and called to share Jesus with the world around them.

Role:

The NextGen Pastor leads a team devoted to partnering with parents and volunteers to inspire and equip kids, students, and young people to be and love like Jesus. This includes leading, resourcing, and developing all contributors within the Next Gen team across all Westwood campuses. As the key voice for the church, this leader also serves on the directional team.

Responsibilities:

  • Pastoral Duties: Serve as a Pastor at-large of Westwood Community Church participating in, but not limited to, staff meetings, retreats, and all church functions, pastoral care and counsel, teaching, officiating church ordinance as assigned, weddings and funerals, and Pastor on Call rotation.
  • Next Gen Leadership: Lead and manage the entire Next Gen team, encompassing Kids Ministry and Student Ministries, with a focus on strategic development, implementation, and oversight of content and programming.
  • Volunteer Development: Ensure that all ministry areas utilize trained volunteer leaders through holistic development and support
  • Ministry Planning: Assist in the development of the annual ministry plan, creating objectives and budgets, and overseeing the stewardship of resources within the Next Gen team
  • Campus Collaboration: Collaborate with campus pastors as the Central voice for the Next Gen team, ensuring compelling support across all locations.
  • Directional Team Participation: Participate and collaborate with directional team peers in implementing Westwood's mission and the Here, Near & Far vision, extending the impact of the church into the broader community.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Serve on leadership teams, work groups, and carry out other responsibilities as assigned by the Executive Pastor or Senior Pastor.

 Qualifications:

  • Someone who lives a life that honors God in heart, actions, and relationships, with the goal of becoming more like Jesus
  • Bachelor’s degree (required); Seminary degree (required or pursuing).
  • Minimum three years of direct ministry leadership experience in a multisite church platform (preferred).
  • Skilled in leading program design and implementation relevant to the Next Gen Ministry.
  • Capable of teaching and preaching the Word of God effectively.
  • Demonstrated success in designing and implementing multisite ministry platforms, leading staff and volunteers, and developing systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills across diverse audiences.
  • Ability to develop, supervise, and coach employees within the ministry area.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office tools.
  • Ability to handle confidential information professionally
  • Endorse and support Westwood’s Statement of Faith
  • Remain a member in good standing of Westwood Community Church
