JOB DESCRIPTION:  Pastor of Student Ministries

Reports directly to:

• Executive & Adult Ministries Pastor

Staff reporting to this position:

• Provides appropriate direction to shared administrative resources (dotted line)

Volunteers reporting to this position:

• Student Ministries adult leaders

Purpose of this position:

• To oversee all ministries from Middle School (6^th grade) through High School (12^th grade), including outreach, discipleship, training of lay leadership teams, weekly activities, retreats, conferences, special programs and Christian Education (CE)
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Type of position:

• Exempt, salaried, indefinite term
• Recommended by Senior Pastor to Search Committee; approved and called by Elder Board; presented to congregation

Qualifications for this position:

• Minimum of Bachelors Degree with academic training to equip and enhance ministry to youth
• Experience in youth-oriented ministry preferred
• Must be licensed or willing to initiate such license by the Evangelical Free Church of America within first year of ministry
• Shall conscientiously accept the Confession of Faith and Christian Lifestyle (Articles IV and V of Church Constitution)

Specific Responsibilities for this position:

• Provide overall direction, goal setting, uniform strategy, administration, evaluation, and planning for all student ministries
• Develop ministry leadership teams for Middle and High School
• Promote/nurture healthy, caring, discipling relationships for students, and healthy, caring relationships between students
• Provide communication, counsel, and training for the parents of students
• Work continually with the Executive & Adult Ministries Pastor and Pastor of Kids Ministries to develop, monitor and enhance safety protocols for children, students, and vulnerable adults
• Reach out to area communities with personal evangelism, Bible studies, and programs designed to attract non-believing students
• Keep informed regarding current regional and national trends, resources, conferences, etc. for the benefit of this church's ministry
• Communicate regularly with Executive & Adult Ministries Pastor regarding goal setting, problem solving, prayer support, personal concerns and worship service involvement
• Oversee and collaborate with Pastor of Kids Ministries to ensure continuity of all student ministries
• Develop and lead a student ministries advisory committee
• Communicate regularly with the church family regarding student ministries programs
• Collaborate with the Executive & Adult Ministries Pastor to develop and execute ministry designed to develop Christian maturity in parenting throughout the church
