A  Job Summary

The Sr. High/Middle School Student Pastor shall be responsible for the spiritual and administrative leadership of the Sr. High/Middle School student ministry of Cornerstone Fellowship. He is responsible for developing and implementing all discipleship programs for Sr. High/Middle School students, planning activities, and planning, organizing, and implementing evangelistic outreaches targeting Sr. High/Middle School students of our community.

B  Specific Responsibilities                     

  1. Organization
  • Write a clear and concise ministry strategy. This is how (step by step) the vision for student ministry will be accomplished. All events and outreaches will be in accordance with the student ministry mission statement.
  • Develop a balanced program of discipleship and evangelism for students. This includes services, small groups, evangelistic outreaches, activities, and camps.
  • Develop a policies and procedures manual for effective Sr. High/Middle School student ministry.
  • Recruit and train volunteers.          

     2. Ministry

  • Discipleship
  1. Plan, organize, and implement dynamic services that help students grow in their faith, are relevant to the needs of the students, and attract students. The “acid test” of a healthy student ministry is that they invite their friends.
  • Evangelism
  1. Plan, organize, and implement effective evangelistic outreaches to the students of our community.
  • Curriculum

      1. Research and choose curriculum. Using curriculum will free time for other responsibilities.

      2. All lessons should be relevant to issues students face in their daily lives and should be well grounded in God’s Word.

  • Fellowship

     1. Plan, organize, and implement recreational activities for students, including retreats and camps.

  1. Implement and carry out plans for student small group ministry.

     3. Administration

  • Ensure that the Sr. High/Middle School student ministry strategy is effectively implemented according to the Pareto Principle and the Law of Navigation.
  1. Constantly evaluate the objectives and effectiveness of the student ministry, implementing improvements and changes as needed.
  2. Follow through in carrying out improvements.
  3. Promote the Sr. High/Middle School student ministry outside the church, taking student ministry into our schools and community as commanded in Matthew 28:18-20.
  4. Train volunteers and staff to follow the policies and procedures manual. Change and update policies and procedures manual as needed for effective student ministry.
  5. Coordinate the use of facilities and vehicles with church administration.

4. Assistance

  • Assist and aid the Senior Pastor in providing pastoral care for the church and community as needed.
  • Be willing to conduct weddings and funerals if needed.
  • Be willing to minister to the sick by making hospital visits if needed.
  • Assist and aid the Senior Pastor in communicating the vision, striving to promote unity and harmony within the church.

5. Qualifications

  • Maintain an intimate relationship with God through prayer and study of God’s Word.
  • Live a lifestyle in accordance with the Word of God.
  • Agree with the mission, vision and doctrinal statement of Cornerstone Fellowship.
  • Education must include a bachelor’s degree.
