About Faith Baptist Church

Faith Baptist is a family of believers in North Minneapolis desiring to build a community of faith through God’s faithfulness.

Faith Baptist has deep roots in the north Minneapolis community. Starting in 1873 as a missions station by the First German Baptist Church of St. Paul, Faith grew and with 35 charter members, became the First German Baptist Church of Minneapolis in 1885. Members met in homes and temporary locations until a building could be constructed with the help of a generous gift from another local Baptist church. On November 14th, 1940, First German Baptist church officially became Faith Baptist Church, following a progression that sought to engage with the wider community of Minneapolis. Construction of the current building began nine years later. Faith’s long history within North Minneapolis is one that we look to both for wisdom and inspiration as we seek to continue being a church that is for the community around us, and a light of Christ’s love for the world.
