Founded in 1882,  First Baptist Church of Aberdeen has been serving the community of Aberdeen, SD for over 100 years. First Baptist Church is a loving, welcoming church which strives to glorify God in all it does. The mission of First Baptist Church is to help people find and follow Jesus, and this is exemplified in everything they do. About the Pastor of Worship:

FBC Aberdeen, SD, is looking for our new Pastor of Worship to join us in what God has been
doing and play an integral role in what God has in store. Aberdeen, SD, is a wonderful place to
start and raise a family—it has beautiful parks, great schools, caring doctors, and a wonderful
community. Our church is located between a university and public high school and has a heart
to reach the next generation with the gospel. This vision requires a worship pastor who has a
heart for leading people into deeper connection with the Lord and one another through music.
In joining, you will be helping the senior pastor launch a new evening service to help reach the
next generation. You will be the senior pastor’s right hand man as he leads our church into this
next chapter that God has prepared for us.

 

The Pastor of Worship's Responsibilities Include: 

The Pastor of Worship will be in charge of all aspects of musical worship for our Sunday
morning, evening, and midweek services. This will include, but not be limited to:

• Planning songs in conjunction with the pastor’s sermon.

• Preparing slides.

• Recruiting volunteer musicians.

• Training up and coming musicians.

• Creating a worship band.

• Practice on a weekly basis with the worship band.

• Scheduling musicians.

• Hosting monthly meetings with the music committee.

• Sitting in on deacons meetings as directed by the senior pastor.

• Hosting nights of worship.

• Partnering with the senior pastor in all social media efforts.

The following describes many of the characteristics of the ideal candidate for the Pastor of Worship:

• You must possess a strong devotion to Jesus Christ and to His people.

• You must meet the qualifications for church leadership outlined in 1 & 2 Timothy & Titus.

• You must be faithful, available, and trainable.

• You must be in full agreement with FBC Aberdeen’s statement of faith, mission, and vision.

• You must be proficient in singing and playing the guitar.

• You must be a leader.

• You must have the ability to communicate clearly—verbally and written.

• You must have the ability to organize, and develop, a worship team.

• You will need to be a team player who is a self-starter and possesses good interpersonal

  and organizational skills.

• You will need to have basic technological skills to use programs such as, but not limited to:

  Microsoft Office, Pro-Presenter, Canva, Capcut, and social media platforms.

• You will need to have an attention toward details and an eye for excellence.

• You will need to be a committed learner and have a continued desire to grow.
