Job Description:

The Ministry Director to Youth supervises the Associate Director of High School and Family Ministry in the performance of his/her duties at First Presbyterian Church. The Associate Director of High School and Family Ministry will be expected to support the ministries of the Church in a spirit of teamwork and offer his/her time, skills, and gifts as they apply to the ongoing welfare, ministry, and edification of the Church.

The Associate Director of High School and Family Ministry is a full-time position that works 40 hours per week and is classified as a exempt position. Hours may be flexible. This position does qualify for healthcare and retirement savings benefits, as well as PTO.

The Associate Director of High School and Family Ministry is a key leadership role responsible for fostering the spiritual development, engagement, and support of high school students and their

 

families. This individual will work closely with the Director of Youth Ministry to create and implement programs, events, and initiatives that reach high school students and their families both inside and outside the walls of First Presbyterian Church.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Program Development:
    • Design and implement a comprehensive and age-appropriate curriculum and lessons for high school students that aligns with the values and teachings of First Presbyterian Church.
    • Develop and oversee educational and enrichment programs to support the spiritual growth and understanding of high school students.
  2. Youth Engagement:
    • Create a welcoming and inclusive environment for high school students to actively participate in church activities, discussions, and community service projects.
    • Organize and lead engaging events, retreats, and small groups to build strong connections among high school students.
  3. Family Ministry:
    • Collaborate with families to provide resources and support for fostering spiritual development within the home.
    • Organize family-focused events and activities that strengthen the bond between the families and the church.
  4. Leadership and Volunteer Management:
    • Recruit, train, and oversee a team of volunteers to assist in various aspects of the high school and family ministry programs.
    • Provide leadership and guidance to volunteers, ensuring a unified approach in fostering a positive and supportive community.
  5. Communication and Outreach:
    • Effectively communicate with parents, high school students, and the broader church community to keep them informed about upcoming events, programs, and opportunities.

 

    • Utilize various communication channels, including social media, newsletters, and in-person meetings, to promote the ministry's initiatives.
  1. Collaboration:
    • Work closely with the Director of Youth Ministry and other ministry leaders to ensure a cohesive and integrated approach to spiritual development across all age groups.
    • Collaborate with other community leaders to support a holistic and interconnected approach to ministry.

Required Qualifications:

  • A deep understanding of the teachings of Jesus and commitment to following Him.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to effectively manage and inspire a team of volunteers.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with both high school students and their families.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team, including other ministry leaders and organizational staff.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Divinity, Theology, Education, or a related field. Alternatively, candidates with significant and directly related ministry experience will also be considered.
  • Previous experience in youth or family church ministry, with a strong understanding of adolescent development and family dynamics.
