Cypress Bible Church is a church with a long history of excellent Bible teaching, sending missionaries all over the world and a strong emphasis on children and youth ministry.  We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Children’s Ministry Leader that can join our team and help point our children, volunteers, and parents to the all-satisfying person of Jesus Christ.  This is a full-time position with benefits.

Children’s Ministry Future Direction

CBC is currently in a time of transition as we seek to strengthen CBC’s Discipleship Plan for adults and youth.  As our Children’s Ministry grows and CBC’s Discipleship Plan is developed, we are looking for a Children’s Ministry leader who will work alongside our team to develop a plan and strategy to train, equip and resource parents in discipling their own children. 

Children’s Leader Qualifications

Education & Experience

A minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited Bible or Christian college or University with a degree in Christian Education (preferably with a focus on Children’s Ministry) or equivalent.  We will give preference to candidates that have educational and/or practical experience with children’s learning styles and stages of child development.
Three or more years of vocational Children’s Ministry experience in overseeing a children’s ministry at a church with a Sunday AM average children’s attendance of 125 or more.

Key Responsibilities & Personal Qualities: 

The Children’s Ministry Leader will provide direct oversight of all ministries to children from birth to 5th Grade.  They will also play a vital role in shaping the spiritual development of children within our church community. Their responsibilities encompass a wide range of tasks aimed at providing a nurturing, safe, and engaging environment for young individuals to grow in their understanding of Biblical truth, personal faith and the transforming work that happens only in a relationship with Jesus Christ.

Spiritual Role Model:  Being a positive and Christ-like role model for children, parents and volunteers, exemplifying a strong and growing personal relationship with God, coupled with a commitment to living out Christian values and principles. 

Implementing CBC’s Mission and 4 Pillars:  Responsible for carrying out Cypress Bible Church’s Mission and incorporating the 4 Pillars of Worship, Discipleship, Service and Missions by seeking input and cooperatively working together with Pastors who are responsible for leading in each of these areas.

Team Player:  Able to work collaboratively with other CBC staff members. 

Leadership and Team Management:  Responsible for recruiting, training, and equipping volunteer teams to assist in various aspects of our Children’s Ministry. Providing leadership, coaching, guidance, and support to volunteers to ensure effective teamwork.

Programming for Children:  Oversee all Children’s Programming for those from birth to 5th Grade.  This includes Sunday morning programming, outreach, family and special events targeted toward children and young families. 

Curriculum Development:  Select and implement Biblically sound and age appropriate curriculum for children from Birth to 5th Grade.  Ensure that Bible lessons and activities are relevant, engaging, and aligned with the church’s doctrine, values and teachings.

Effective Communication:  Excellent communication skills, both with children and adults. Able to convey biblical teachings in a way that is relatable and understandable to children.

Communication with Parents/Guardians:  Communicates regularly with parents or guardians to keep them informed about upcoming events, curriculum, and opportunities for involvement in Children’s ministry.

Care and Guidance for Children and Parents:  Offering care and support to children and their parents. Being available to listen, counsel, pray, and provide guidance to children and their parents in their spiritual journey.

Outreach and Evangelism:  Engages with local community to reach out to children and families outside the church, inviting them to participate in ministry activities and events.

Child Safety and Protection:  Implements and enforces child safety and protection policies to ensure a secure environment for all children participating in ministry activities.

Resource Management: Managing the budget and resources allocated to the children’s ministry. Ensuring effective use of resources to achieve ministry objectives.

Reporting Relationship:   This position will be supervised by Executive Pastor, Brian Carroll.
