Lima Baptist Temple is an independent baptist church located in the town of Lima, OH, which has a population of 38,000. They exist to take the changeless gospel to an always changing culture. This established church is led by Senior Pastor Ben Anderson who the Lord called into vocational ministry from the marketplace. The staff team is energetic and intentional in glorifying God with their passion in leading the church. Lima Baptist Temple (LBT) is a growing group of people who believe that God wants to do great things in and through the individuals in their community. 

 

The church is seeking a Student Pastor to join the team and continue to build Gospel impact in reaching middle school and high school students with the life changing message of Jesus. The church averages 450-500 on Sundays, which offers one worship service at 11 AM. During the Sunday teaching hour at 10AM, 20-30 students arrive to be part of Christian community and teaching. And on Wednesday nights, student ministry can regularly see 40-50 students who are eager to connect and grow. Although the church is well established with a long legacy in the community, LBT desires the new student pastor to come in and make it their own with the ability to both bring new ideas and implement them. The right candidate for this team will bring ideation, energy, great Bible teaching and a relatable connection with students from all walks of life. Below are the qualifications and responsibilities Froot Group and the church have identified for this role:

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Create and implement a vision, goals, and overall strategy for the student ministry.
  • Oversee all programming for Sunday morning groups, Wednesday nights for Middle School and High School, special student activities, camps, retreats, community service projects, mission trips, etc…
  • Mentor and disciple students.
  • Communicate effectively and on a regular basis with students, parents/guardians, and church, using all available resources (email, website, social media, bulletin, newsletter, etc.).
  • Provide resources to parents and connect with them to help nurture the spiritual growth of students at home. 
  • Recruit and equip volunteers who work with students and ensure adequate volunteer support.
  • Build relationships with students through local area schools and with a variety of students attending community schools.
  • Establish a balanced weekly schedule: family, Sunday and Wednesday programs, visiting schools, attending school games and extracurricular activities, special events, visitation, times of crisis, office hours, etc. 
  • Maintain and develop a transition plan with the Children's Director for kids transitioning into student ministry.
  • Be a liaison between the church and other community organizations, people, and resources that relate to students and student ministries.
  • Plan and oversee the Student Ministry budget.
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Meet the qualifications of a pastor as stated in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1.
  • Be a licensed or ordained minister (or willing to pursue / complete). 
  • Bachelor or higher degree in religion, youth, communications, or closely related field.
  • At least 2+ years of experience leading a student ministry is preferred, but not required.
  • A passion for Students, their relationship with Jesus and with others.
  • Function effectively as a member of the pastoral team, providing creative input in the plans and ideas of team members.
  • Spouse involved in the student ministry and good camaraderie with the pastoral team.
  • Proven leadership ability, high level of motivation, and accountability.
  • Excellent management and organizational skills, along with managing large and small student groups to promote the best environment for spiritual growth.
  • Ability to work well with ministry leaders.
  • Communicates well with others (students, parents, staff).

 

Reports Structure: 

  • This position reports directly to the Senior Pastor.
