YOUTH DIRECTOR JOB DESCRIPTION
Lakeland Community Church is seeking a full-time Youth Ministry Director. This role provides primary oversight for Sunday morning programming for Middle School students (grades 5-8) and Wednesday evening programming for High School students (grades 9-12).
Lakeland Community Church has a strong emphasis on incarnational ministry. While teaching and engaging students in creative, developmentally appropriate ways are necessary, the director must be passionate about building relationships with students and seek
to build a team of volunteers who will help develop followers of Jesus for the next generation. The director must also be a collaborative partner with parents in the spiritual development of the student as well as a team of volunteers who will serve students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Train, Equip, and Manage Volunteers:

- Volunteer Recruitment, Management and Celebration: Recruit, train, equip, and celebrate volunteers for Trailhead (grades 5-8) and The Clearing (grades 9-12) areas.
- Schedule, organize, and execute celebrations and rallies for team members

- Policy Development: Develop and implement policies and procedures for these areas.
- Curriculum Development & Implementation:

- Design and implement all Sunday morning Middle School Programming
- Responsibilities include but are not limited to: curriculum development, gathering and buying supplies, room setup and cleanup, volunteer scheduling and communications, parent communications, staff communications, schedule, leader guide creation, discussions,
activities,etc.
- Design and implement all High School Programming- usually Wednesday nights
- Responsibilities include but are not limited to: curriculum development, organizing and preparing print materials, teaching props, gathering and buying supplies, volunteer scheduling and communications, parent communications, staff communications, schedule,
leader guide creation, creating small group illustrations, discussions and activities, etc.
- Events & Milestones:

- Organize and execute fun nights outside of church (1 per quarter for both youth programs).
- Assist with milestones such as Bridges, Confirmation, Clearing Compass, Clearing Compass Parent Dinners, and The Journey Milestone.
- As a natural outcome of a relationship with students, the youth director will often be invited to attend a student’s personal events. While not required, this is a good way to build relationships with families and part of our culture of building community.
- Clearing Summer Trip:

- Organize every aspect of the High School summer trip.
- Plan logistics, manage details, coordinate volunteers, budget, fundraise, create the itinerary, arrange food and transportation, assemble the leader team, handle communications, oversee registrations, and conduct informational meetings.
Additional Staff Responsibilities:
- Weekly Staff meetings on Tuesday mornings. Staff retreats and other offsite community-building times.
- Become a Fully Participating Member of Lakeland Community Church and participate in all the ways we expect congregants to participate.
- Participate and lead in Financial Challenges in age-appropriate ways.
- Participate and lead in All Church Calendar events or adapt All Church Calendar events in age-appropriate ways for students.
- Sunday mornings, Tuesdays and Wednesday nights are IN Church building hours. The remaining hours will vary between meeting with volunteers, office hours, and occasional work-from-home hours.

COMPENSATION, HOURS, and BENEFITS
- Salary is negotiable and will be commensurate with experience and education
- 40 hour average week
