Job Description:

Good Shepherd is looking for a leader who is passionate about Jesus and called to ministry operations management. Operations Director leads the business functions of the ministry, including financial, human resources, facility, asset and liability management. This position is dedicated to the operational excellence of the ministry, supporting pastors, staff and lay leadership in advancing the mission and ministry of Good Shepherd. Operations Director is a strong systems thinker, collaborative leader, unafraid of resolving conflict and results oriented.

Good Shepherd provides a unique opportunity for anyone called to ministry who wants to work in an urban church: a well-resourced ministry that values innovation and is led by highly experienced professionals. Operations Director works approximately 30 hours per week, including weekdays and on-call evening and weekend hours. Position reports to the Senior Pastor and is accountable to the Executive Pastor and Good Shepherd Council. Position includes full benefit package.

  • Skilled in accounting and budgeting, business and information technology, building and property management, human resources management, regulatory compliance and risk management
  • Minimum five years of business management experience, church or non-profit preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field required, MBA preferred

Responsibilities

  • Manage ministry financial stewardship, including annual budget development, fund use, contributions, accounts payable and receivable, banking, and reporting
  • Establish, implement and update policies and procedures to mitigate business risks and provide for efficient, cost-effective and legally compliant ministry operations
  • Provide human resources management, including policies, employee benefits, payroll, training, recruiting, administering performance warnings and handling terminations
  • Oversee maintenance, use, and renovation of buildings and grounds
  • Source, manage and facilitate use of technology and equipment, from network, hardware and software systems, to AVL and HVAC
  • Hire and manage financial, administrative and maintenance staff
  • Establish and manage contractor and vendor agreements, insurance policies, facility use policies and agreements, and equipment purchase and lease agreements
  • Provide operations support for ministry program and church leadership
