Senior Pastor

Position Title: Senior Pastor

Location: Berean Baptist Church of Albuquerque, New Mexico

Position Summary: The Senior Pastor (A.K.A. Head or Lead Pastor) of Berean Baptist Church will provide spiritual leadership to the congregation through biblically sound preaching and teaching, pastoral care, and by fostering a missions-oriented vision both locally and globally. The Pastor will support the spiritual growth of church members and oversee various aspects of church life and administration.

Key Responsibilities

Preaching and Teaching:
Deliver expository sermons with sound biblical doctrine.
Provide regular Bible studies and teaching sessions.
Ensure all teachings align with the core beliefs of the church.

Pastoral Care:
Visit members in poor health, hospitalized, grieving, or in other life circumstances, regardless of time or day.
Offer counseling and support to church members.
Promote spiritual growth and maturity among the congregation.

Missions and Outreach:
Foster a strong missions-oriented vision within the church.
Support and maintain the Spanish Ministry outreach established at Berean.
Support and oversee Berean’s over 100 missions projects worldwide.
Encourage local evangelism and global missionary outreach.

Leadership and Administration:
Provide overall spiritual and organizational leadership to the church.
Develop the vision, mission, goals and objectives of the church with measures to track progress.
Work closely with church Deacons to develop and implement church policies and programs.
Oversee church staff and volunteers, ensuring effective ministry operations.

Community Engagement:
Build and maintain relationships within the local community.
Represent the church in community activities and events.

Qualifications

Spiritual and Personal:
Must be above reproach, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, and able to teach (1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9).
Faithful in marriage and manages their household well.
Blameless, temperate, and not quick-tempered.
Kind, compassionate, and hardworking.
Not given to drunkenness or pursuing dishonest gain.

Professional:
Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills
Demonstrated commitment to missions and evangelism
Desired: degree in theology, divinity, or similar from an accredited seminary
10 or more years of pastoral experience
Desired: significant pastoral experience in a Baptist Church, Mission, or organization
Desired: ordination from a Baptist organization
