Worship Leader Job Description July 2024

Church of the Holy Spirit is seeking a part time, contemporary Worship Leader for our 10am Sunday service, to begin immediately.  The Worship Leader leads the worship team and coordinates all music functions in the church.

We have an average Sunday attendance of 130 in Leesburg.

Job Title: Worship Leader
Reports To: Rector (William Stuart-Lee)
Status:  Part-Time (10 -15 hours per week); salary is between $20,000 - $27,000, depending on experience, skills, and hours worked.


SUMMARY: Church of the Holy Spirit is seeking a Worship Leader who has a passionate heart for God, a love for the presence of the Holy Spirit and a desire to equip and encourage others to go deeper in worship. The Worship Leader will lead the congregation in worship on Sundays and at other, special events. The Worship Leader will oversee the worship team and coordinate and lead all aspects of the worship including selecting songs and recruiting musicians. They will seek to raise up and release new members of the worship team. They will help the Rector with the potential launch of a second Sunday morning service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee all aspects of the worship ministry including, but not limited to, the selection and leading of music for Sunday Morning Worship, Healing services once monthly, Alpha ministry on some Mondays and scheduled special events (e.g., Christmas, Palm Sunday, Easter Week, etc.)
  • Work with the Rector on song choices and a music plan.
  • Prepare the worship team for Sunday Morning Worship.
  • Ensure that lyric presentations for Sunday Morning Worship are correct for presentation, whether in Proclaim (our presentation software), or printed materials.
  • Schedule all instrumentalists and vocalists, and find substitutes when necessary. When absent, schedule a leader as well.
  • Arrive at 7:30 AM on Sunday mornings to oversee set-up, sound check, and a final run through before the 10 AM service.
  • Recruit, screen, and cultivate gifted instrumentalists and vocalists for the worship ministry team.
  • Identify and integrate new songs into the church repertoire.
  • Prepare an annual budget for the worship team, including money for guest honorariums, equipment, staff musicians.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supervises all worship team members including volunteer instrumentalists, paid instrumentalists, vocalists.

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

The ideal candidate will be gifted and experienced in leading contemporary worship. Any additional experience in leading choirs, dramas and multimedia presentations is appreciated, but not a requisite for the role.

The successful candidate must be a Christian who is passionate about worshipping Jesus and excited to lead others into the presence of God. As a church community we are keen to go deeper in worship.
