Job Description:

HOPE Christian Fellowship is a vibrant, multi-generational, and multi-ethnic church located in the San Gabriel Valley, East of Los Angeles. We are seeking a spirit filled person who is dedicated to reaching, equipping, and empowering people in our community to follow Christ.

Position Summary: The Family Life Pastor will provide leadership and oversight to all ministries serving children from birth through college. This includes involvement in Youth Ministry, Children's Ministry, and College Ministry. The Family Life Pastor will lead by example through seeking, equipping, empowering, and evaluating ministry leaders in these areas to ensure effective spiritual development, fellowship, and ministry involvement.

Overall Goal: Coordinate and oversee activities for children, teens, and families that promote spiritual development, fellowship, fun, and ministry involvement.

Youth Ministry Expectations:

  1. Serve as the primary youth speaker, teaching God’s word in a way that is relevant to teens and produces lasting life change.
  2. Recruit and train youth volunteers to minister to and help teens grow in their faith.
  3. Develop the gifts of youth and provide opportunities for them to lead in ministry.
  4. Direct and conduct weekly youth meetings, including large and small group sessions.
  5. Organize and involve youth in special events for study and growth, such as youth camps, retreats, conventions, seminars, banquets, parties, recreation, and outreaches.
  6. Set up annual youth mission trips.
  7. Collaborate with the Lead Pastor to project, submit, and track the youth ministries budget.
  8. Communicate and promote activities to youth, the congregation, and the community through various channels.

Children’s Ministry Expectations:

  1. Oversee and collaborate with part-time Children Ministry staff to train leaders for different children and family ministries.
  2. Recruit and train volunteers to use the children’s curriculum effectively.
  3. Organize and provide necessary equipment for effective ministry to children and families.
  4. Foster communication between parents, children, and children’s ministry leaders.

College Ministry Expectations:

  1. Provide oversight for the college ministry while working with existing college volunteers to minister to this age group and help them grow in their faith.
  2. Recruit and train additional college volunteers and small group leaders.
  3. Organize larger gatherings, such as worship nights and other events, with the help of the church staff.
  4. Collaborate with the rest of the pastoral staff to integrate this age group into the greater life of the church.

Experience and Qualifications:

  1. Prior experience in children’s or youth ministry.
  2. Master’s Degree in Divinity or equivalent pursuing/planning to pursue an M.Div., with a minimum of a four-year college degree preferred.
  3. A team player who works effectively with staff and servant leaders.
  4. Demonstrated Christian character and depth of spiritual maturity.
  5. Ability to lead and communicate well with children, students, parents, volunteers, and staff.
  6. Ability to communicate Biblical principles effectively through weekly preaching, teaching, videos, etc.
