The primary purpose of this position is to lead a ministry that develops young adults (ages 18 – 24) to become passionate Christ-followers through weekly programming, life groups, missions opportunities and special events. This position is of high importance as it is leading a ministry that is bridging the gap between young students, who may be following Christ for a variety of reasons, to the next generation of adults who are passionately pursing Jesus above all else.

This Position Reports To:
Student Ministry Pastor

Who This Position Works Closely With:
Young Adult staff team, Next Gen leaders, volunteers and students

Primary Responsibilities

  • Pastoral Ministry: To provide teaching, counseling, wedding and memorial services, and offer limited pastoral care for the students, volunteer staff, families and the general church as needed.

  • Ministry Programming: To oversee programming, in partnership with Worship Arts, that creates compelling environments, provides life-changing Bible teaching and offers transformational experiences on weekends and occasionally through special events and camps.

  • Life Group Multiplication: To provide adequate life group opportunities for all college students. This includes developing, recruiting, training and coaching life group leaders to disciple students and lead healthy, multiplying groups that are consistent with Rocky Peak’s Life Group philosophy.

  • Culture Code Carrier: As a Rocky Peak team member, our cultural code guides who we are and how we operate as a staff. These are things we expect of our team members but are not generally part of the paid role, and include things like regular attendance at church services and events, life gdroup participation, and serving sacrificially. Other areas that are not a part of the paid role may include things like, mentoring or hanging out with attendees.

Primary Results

  • To cultivate positive working relationships with other ministries and leaders at Rocky Peak. To ensure that cross collaboration with other ministries generates more energy rather than tension.

  • To regularly invest in your own leadership skills in a biblical, healthy, and growth-oriented way.

  • To invest in young adults for the purpose of spiritual growth and maintain a balanced focus between new and maturing Christ-followers.

  • To prepare and deliver clear and biblically accurate messages on a semi-weekly basis with actionable growth opportunities that are consistent with the larger Rocky Peak teaching culture.

  • To provide weekly programming that allows young adults to experience God, learn the Word, grow in worship, build significant relationships, discover and use their gifts, and learn how to share Christ.

  • To manage teaching responsibilities without compromising the other aspects that accompany your pastoral and organizational role.

  • To provide occasional counseling and pastoral care for young adults to help them grow and become more like Christ.

  • To oversee the Young Adult Ministry budget to ensure it reflects the strategic priorities of the ministry and that it remains aligned and on track throughout the year.

  • To implement intentional plans for growth across different spiritual life-stages, including new believers, maturing/growing believers, and leaders – as well as engaging and retaining students in each category.

  • To lead and oversee ministry programming that ensures relevance, effectiveness, and cultural fit through worship, teaching, and activities (both inside and outside the venue), under the leadership of the Student Ministry Pastor.

  • To work closely with Worship Arts to develop clear and effective strategies and programming to reach and develop young adults into passionate Christ-followers.

  • To identify and develop a team of leaders, helping them to grow to their full potential.

  • To work closely with Life Group leadership to provide excellent life groups for all young adults and drive the leadership pipeline.

  • To provide regular service opportunities for students to identify and develop their gifts and to carry out the vision within the Young Adult Ministry and the church.

  • To effectively convey the right information to the right people at the right time and in the right way.

  • To serve as one of the primary culture creators and carriers. To model the vision, values, strategies and culture of Rocky Peak to inspire, instruct and encourage others.

  • To ensure that decision making aligns with Rocky Peak’s vision and values.

  • To be consistently physically present at weekly and special ministry events. To be recognized by students and leaders for presence and availability.
