Job Description:

Position: Youth Pastor

Employment Status: Exempt Regular Full-Time

Supervisor: Family Pastor

Oversight: Part-Time Youth Ministry Intern

Minimum Requirements:

  • Pass a background check.
  • Be a born-again growing follower of Jesus Christ.
  • Bachelors in Biblical and Theological Studies or similar degree program.
  • 2-3 years of experience leading a Youth Ministry of at least 50 students as a Youth Pastor.
  • Be in shape spiritually, mentally and emotionally.
  • Agree with our Vision and Statement of Beliefs.
  • Experienced in teaching God’s Word in an accurate, compelling and age-specific manner.
  • Possess audio/video of you preaching for our team to review.
  • Possess strong leadership characteristics and use skills to train, equip and inspire.
  • Ability to take direction and receive feedback.
  • Ability to initiate and complete tasks without prompting.
  • Ability to initiate and carry conversations.
  • High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations.
  • High attention to detail in planning.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Spiritual guidance: Overseeing the spiritual needs of our students in 6-12th grades and their families, providing spiritual guidance and counsel.
  • Teaching: Leading and teaching Bible studies and youth group meetings, and preparing sermons and talks for the youth ministry including the teaching of the assigned passage for the whole church for that Sunday.
  • Mentoring: Discipling and mentoring young people, and pointing them to Jesus.
  • Programming: Developing, implementing, and overseeing youth ministry programs, such as camps, retreats, mission trips, weekly meetings, and service projects.
  • Events: Coordinating special events, assisting in the development and organization of church-wide outreach events, attending students’ events they participate in.
  • Administration: Managing the youth ministry's budget, maintaining expense records, maintaining youth ministry social media accounts, participating in weekly staff meetings and prayer meetings.
