JOB DESCRIPTION - PASTOR

Qualification:

Bachelor degree from an accredited Christian College. Degree program must emphasize training/preparation in Christian ministry for Pastoriing a Christian church. One or more year experience preferred. Less than one year may be considered. Please submit resume and descriptive cover letter to the above email address.

Guiding Faith Belief:

Adherence to the authoritative word of God revealed in all scripture. Belief in the Trinity- God revealed in three persons- God, Jesus Christ son of God, Holy Spirit. Personal conviction to follow Jesus Christ (savior of all repentant people through grace). Full recognition that submission to the lordship of Jesus Christ, for self and all others, as the only way by which a person can come into right relationship with God.

Consistent with this guiding faith the pastor will at all times serve with professionalism. He shall exemplify the biblical model of honesty, patience, Christian love and compassion.

Responsibilities:

(Worship Services)  With energy and enthusiasm fulfill the role of primary preacher/teacher. Communicate biblically based sermons in a current day relevant manner to encourage discipleship and knowledge of God's word with clarity in a confused world. Give reasonable lead time to church Board if anticipating an absence for an upcoming Sunday. Be willing and able to lead bible studies, such as Bible History, Sharing Gospel Message, Prophecy etc.

(Congregational Care)  Work closely with youth group volunteers. Visit the elderly and infirmed. Counsel people using Christian perspective/love in matters of ill health, relationships, behavioral challenges, social political concerns etc. Assist in maintaing a welcoming environment, including before and following Sunday church service. Be available by phone/email. Advise the church Board of needs concerning congregational care.

(Administrative)  Engage and fully participate in a respecful collaborative approach to church leadership. Attend all church Board meetings and share a Pastor's report as a regular agenda item. Contribute ideas/perspective fully partnering with all church Board members. Maintain the church website account, use social media to further the work of the church.

(Community)  Be willing and able to conduct weddings, funerals, baptisms. Engage with the wider community encouraging relationships built on Christian comradery/values.

(Church Property)  Play a constructive role in partnership with the church Board to keep the church building and parsonage home in good repair.

Compensation/Benefits:

(Salary)  Senior Pastor's base salary is $40,800 per year. Salary payments are made twice monthly. Once each service year the church Board will review the Pastor's salary for consideration of cost of living adjustment or other need.

(Benefits)  Three weeks paid vacation. Pastor's utilization of all vacation time per year is mandatory. Suggestions for use of vacation time is - rest, study, reflection.  Health insureance contribution provided to Pastor as a set dollar amount, to be negotiated pending needs/cost/availability. Accountable expense reimbursement to Pastor for cost of persoanl phone service, and, up to $125 per month church related ministry expenditures. Pastor shall have rent free use of the church parsonage - a 3 bedroom 2 bath home with finished basement, fenced yard, garden area, in quiet nieghborhood.

Authority:

The Pastor answers to the church Board concerning Pastor's on-going employment, all matters of church ministry/business, with the church Board having final decision making authority. The Pastor does not have voting authority during Board meetings, however, the Pastor will contribute advisory guidance integral to all matters spiritual and otherwise. The Pastor's involvement in collaborative teamwork with church Board is important and valued, by the Board, as an integral component to leadership composition.
