The Chapel Baton Rouge is one church with two locations, that is compelled by a unified mission to Help People Meet, Know and Follow Jesus on the campus of LSU, the city of Baton Rouge and around the world.

We are looking for a proven leader to join our team to be a part of and lead our Next Gen Ministry as The Chapel’s Youth Director. This right individual will collaborate with Chapel Kids and our College Ministries to lead an infant – college discipleship process that reaches lost students and disciples them to follow Jesus by “living sent” with the gospel into the world.

Job Specifics:

Next Gen Ministry: Be a collaborative member of The Chapel’s Next Gen Ministry. The Youth Director and Kids Director will work together to shape the Next Gen Ministry in alignment with The Chapel’s mission and values. The goal is to create a strong partnership between the church and parents.

Youth Ministry Champion: Be the Youth Ministry champion by providing leadership for the Youth Ministry at its two locations; alignment between mission, locations, curriculum, culture, youth volunteers and staff, etc.

Recruiter/Developer: Be a recruiter and developer of leaders that will invest relationally in the lives of middle and high school youth, leading to discipleship. The position will require the leader to raise up and equip others (LSU students) to connect relationally with youth. 

Teacher: Be a teacher of God’s Word and a developer of others to teach and lead youth to understand and apply the Bible to their lives.

Shepherd: Be a shepherd that provides care and support to students, their families, and volunteers

Dreamer/Organizer: Be a dreamer/organizer by cultivating creative and relevant ideas for the Youth Ministry. To include but not limited to the overall youth program, events, retreats and trips that create community and provide an entry point for new youth to connect and moves the mission of the Chapel forward. 

Technically Skilled: Be proficient in the use of technology to reach/communicate with youth.

Resource Minded: Be responsible for the spending and oversite of the yearly Youth Ministry budget.

Mission Supporter: Be a supportive member of The Chapel’s Leadership Team, advocating for the church’s mission, vision and values as the representative for Chapel Youth/Next Gen Ministry.

Qualifications:

  • Spiritual maturity and character consistent with biblical leadership
  • A relational leader that values fun and doing life with students, families, volunteers, and our team
  • A college degree; preferably a biblical degree or a student ministry degree, but notrequired
  • Have a minimum of 3 years on a paid staff leading in a ministry context
  • A passion to reach and disciple unchurched students and their families
  • A self-motivated leader, loving life on a team without the need for micromanagement
  • A gifted communicator that can convey biblical truth in an age appropriate manner
  • An idea developer and problem solver
  • A recruiter, developer of volunteers. Sees leading through leaders as an effective way to do ministry
  • Agrees with and embraces the culture, vision and doctrinal statement of The Chapel
