Summary:

The Kids Pastor/Minister is responsible for comprehensively building a ministry team that will effectively disciple children ages birth through 5th grade and support the discipleship process of their parents in connection with the entire families’ ministry. This will include recruiting, training, and shepherding leaders as well as establishing the scope and sequence for curriculum and age graded learning objectives in collaboration with Wake Forest director for this assigned ministry area. The director will also ensure that the proper transitional bridges are built and maintained between children and middle school ministry in cooperation with the middle school pastor.
 
Reporting: This position will report to the Next Gen Department Head.
 
Supervisory Responsibilities:  The Kids Pastor/Minister will have volunteer ministering within his/her assigned ministry area and will provide applicable direction to administrative assistants, and interns that serve and support this ministry area.

Primary Responsibilities:
The Kids Pastor/Minister provides vision, designs, and develops all functions of the children’s ministry.  He/she also supervises the functions of other paid and volunteer leaders within the children’s ministry.  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to consistently carry out the following duties and responsibilities:
 
Pastoral Leadership
General pastoral duties (counseling, prayer, shepherding, Pastor on Call, etc... as needed) in the context of ministering to children, parents, volunteers, and paid staff.
Provide design and development of training opportunities for parents in connection with the families’ pastor direction.  
Maintain general knowledge of the flock in his care.
Provide vision, direction, and recommendations for organizational change for assigned area of ministry. 
Provide design and development for events and ongoing ministry venues within assigned area of ministry.
Set goals for assigned area of ministry. 
Lead team meetings of paid and volunteer staff members as necessary.
 
Educational Oversight
·      Select curriculum and develop scope/sequence in the context of age graded ministry.
·      Design and develop learning objectives for each age level and assure that they are appropriate as it relates to each specific ministry venue and that these objectives are accomplished through the appropriate curriculum.
 
Leadership/Volunteers
·      Primary responsibility to recruit, train, and manage volunteers for assigned area of ministry.
·      Define a strategy and create a plan for on-going leadership development of the leaders within assigned area of ministry including volunteer and paid staff leaders.
·      Provide oversight of training events.
 
Programming
·      Provide age-appropriate programming by designing, developing, and working with any necessary staff or volunteers to implement such programming in assigned area of ministry
·      Oversee assigned staff and volunteers in the on-going management of such programs
·      Provide primary evaluation of children’s programming in the design and development phases 
 
Administration:
·      Provide a ministry plan each year to reflect goals and strategic planning in connection with the entire NextGen ministry.
·      Oversight, management, and responsibility for the financial budget for the assigned area of ministry.
 
Miscellaneous Duties:
·      Perform all other duties as assigned by his supervising pastor as it relates to the vision, design, development, and general oversight of all ministry functions for assigned area of ministry.
·      Participate in select staff meetings and contribute towards defining and carrying out overall ministry team goals.  This includes attending leadership/planning meetings, city-wide projects, tasks, and events as well as other departmental and church-wide staff meetings.

Technical Knowledge
·      Demonstrated ability to learn and use standard office equipment including PCs, copiers, printers, fax machines, etc.
Demonstrated ability to learn and use standard office systems and tools including Word, Publisher, Excel, Outlook, etc.
 
Education and/or Experience
A college degree in an area applicable to this position’s ministry focus is required.  Must have experience in a professional office environment where communication, administrative and relational skills are required or have demonstrated skills that are equivalent.

Reports: Volunteers, Periodic Interns, and administrative support from the Admin Pool.
Overview: Duties outside the Kids area will include Church-wide initiatives and events, on-call responsibilities, some weekend, and evening work.
 
Areas of responsibility include:
1)    At times contribute to the emcee / platform team.
2)    At times contribute to church-wide initiatives.
3)    Other items as assigned.
