Central Baptist Church of Bearden has an immediate opening for Senior Pastor. We are a multigenerational congregation actively involved in the community, sharing the gospel and Christ's love through service and creative engagement in Knoxville, TN and around the world. Central Bearden is a church that actively supports the equal roles of men and women in leadership, including the role of ministers and deacons. In our setting, the senior pastor provides leadership, while working closely with lay leaders, for guiding the church in the fulfillment of its mission through biblical teaching, congregational care, spiritual development, and missions. It is important that the senior pastor remains comfortably accessible, approachable, and well-informed about our faith family to ensure the most effective ministry possible in alignment with the vision, mission and ministry practices of our church.
Central Bearden partners with the Southern Baptist Convention, the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship, and the Baptist World Alliance. We are adherents to the 1963 Baptist Faith and Message. Applicants should have at least 10 years of relevant full-time experience with at least a Master’s level degree from an accredited seminary. Compensation will be commensurate with education and experience. Central Baptist Bearden is located in Knoxville, TN just a few miles from The University of Tennessee. Our overarching theme is that we are Christ Centered and Community Focused. We exist to help people know Jesus Christ, grow as His disciples and to share his love with others. We are currently dually aligned with SBC and CBF. We recognize that all believers are called and gifted, and we support and encourage people to use those gifts. We currently have one worship service that is blended and average 500 in worship attendance.
