US Naval Chaplaincy Requirements are as follows:
1. Applicants must obtain a denominational endorsement.
2. Applicants must have a baccalaureate degree of no less than 120 hours and a Masters-level degree of Divinity from an accredited institution, of no less than 72 hours. Clinical Pastoral Education is highly valued.
3. Applicants for active duty (full time) must have no less than 2 years of full-time ministry experience (30 hours or more per week) - ministry leadership experience including sermons, weddings, funerals, memorial services, sacraments, ordinances, and supervision of other staff.
4. Applicants for active duty should be no older than 57 years-old at the time of their application. Age waivers are possible for those with special skill sets or extensive experience. Age waivers are considered at age 42 and beyond.
5. CCPO (student program) applicants must be at least 21 years of age and commissioned before age 38, unless they have prior military experience.
6. Applicants should be of such physical condition to tackle the rigorous demands of operational ministry and must be able to pass a medical screening.
7. Applicants must be of the highest moral character and be able to successfully obtain a security clearance.
8. Applicants must be a U.S. citizen.
