Living Hope Children’s Ministry Pastor/Director

Purpose:  Living Hope Church (LHC) seeks to fill the position of Children’s Ministry Pastor/Director (CMP/D) who is responsible for overseeing all aspects of children’s ministries.  The CMP/D must have a passion and love for Jesus Christ, the Word of God, and for children, and desire to see children grow and thrive in their relationship with Christ.  This qualified individual must live an exemplary life so as to be an example and role model to our children and their families.  The CMP/D preferably has experience with parenting and a proven track record working with children of various backgrounds, ethnicities, cultures, etc., and must be willing to partner with families and support systems in developing and fostering an effective ministry to children who have special needs, come from trauma, etc. The CMP/D will serve as an engaging, spiritual leader and role model.  In addition, the following requirements are fundamental to this position: 

General Qualifications

  • Meet the 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1 qualifications for church leaders.
  • Commit to LHC’s vision, values, and beliefs and agree to all the doctrines, values, mission, policies and philosophy of ministry at LHC.
  • If married, maintain a healthy growing marriage and family.  We do not want anyone to sacrifice their family on the altar of ministry.
  • Commit to a team approach to ministry.
  • Be committed to grow and mature in your relationship with Jesus.
  • Have a humble and teachable spirit.
  • Comfortable overseeing and delegating responsibilities to others.
  • Demonstrate good chemistry with LHC’s staff, elders and families.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Collaborate with church leadership and staff in a cohesive and supportive team environment. 
  • Healthy conflict management skills and experience with conflict resolution.
  • Well organized and disciplined; a self-starter, able to work without direct supervision.
  • Supports Living Hope Church’s statement of faith and submits to the oversight of Pastor Holt and church Elders.
  • Becomes a member of Living Hope Church.

Responsibilities

  1. Prepare and oversee ministry budgets.
  2. Recruit, train, and oversee all the children’s ministry leaders and volunteers.
  3. Coordinate nursery and nursery volunteers.
  4. Communicate and work directly with the parents of children so that we are the extension of the home and not a replacement of it.
  5. Attend staff meetings and all meetings related to children’s and parenting ministry.
  6. Provide parenting seminars, resources, etc. so that we are equiping the saints for works of service, especially in the home.
  7. Submit a monthly staff report to Pastor David.
  8. Ensure that children’s ministry is functioning in a healthy, effective, focused manner
  9. Help equip parents to disciple their children.
  10. Lead the children’s ministry on Sundays, Wednesday nights, and other times decided by the leadership (e.g., Good Friday, KidFest, etc.).
  11. Work in cooperation with the youth ministry to ensure teamwork and avoid a “silo” approach to ministry.
  12. Follow through with LHC’s volunteer screening process and MinistrySafe requirements.
  13. Demonstrate capacity to organize, plan and implement special events if needed.

Experience/Education

Prefer candidate to have at least 3 years of children’s ministry experience with a bachelor’s degree (preferably a master's) in Bible Theology, Christian education, children, and/or family ministry.
